Entering her Master’s course, Nanami Haruka is facing an even more difficult time. And she isn’t the only one. The main six members of Starish are assigned new seniors to watch over them! But the seniors aren’t having the best attitudes about it. – MAL

Story/Plot: 9/10
This season they did a great job pacing the story, and having a solid plot based on preparing for the Utapri Utapri S2 Ep 10 Img 0005Awards that will take them to the next level of their careers. It honestly speaking, it didn’t stand out much- it was more of a plot-device to back up all these individual jobs that each of the characters had to do or their inner conflicts that they had to overcome. Each boy had an episode devoted to them. Some were job related, others were figuring things out. Once the finished covering most of that part of the story, the main conflict came into play: facing tough rivals who were also nominated for the Utapri Award. Although the plot device is quite bland and the conflict coming relatively late into the game, both were solid. They also did a good job filling in last season’s plot-holes which really cleared things up. While I do have the urge to give this the perfect grade because it was nothing complicated- just really straight-forward simplicity, I think it’d be a bit over the top if I rated this 100%, so I am rating this a nine.
Characters & Development: 9/10

Utapri S2 Ep 2 Img 0012I couldn’t be happier with how things turn out for the characters. Each and every one of them had their time to flesh out their character and show us the other side of them that we weren’t able to see last season because SOMEBODY was hogging the spotlight. With Cecil joining the team, that was my first and foremost concern since I was dreading the idea of repeating the same problem (hogging the spotlight) as last season all over again. Thankfully that wasn’t the case, they evenly balanced things out- allowing us to learn more about Cecil as well watch his character develop. As for development for the other boys, it wasn’t really watching it happen over the course of the season, but seeing how much they have grown. Another that I really loved was that they were able to showcase Haruka’s cute and lovable side of her that we weren’t able to see last season very much because of all of the drama.
Then we have the Quartet Night: Goodness gracious, what a unique group of guys they are. Hands down you will love Camus, he is absolutely flawless. I won’t spoil you anything, he is just ridiculously EPIC. STAY FLAWLESS CAMUS! <3
Utapri S2 Ep 2 Img 0005Animation Quality: 7/10
Once more I will be rating the animation a seven. While the dance is spectacular and extremely well done much like last season’s only even 2000% better as expected, it wasn’t as consistent as I had hoped it to be (I wasn’t holding my breath though). Was it better than the first season? Not entirely, it’s about the same. Regardless of that, seriously props to the animators for their brilliant work with the dance once again. Too many shows now days resort to CG to do the job.
OST: 10/10
Utapri S2 Ep 13 Img 0041Come on, this is a music show. If I can’t rate this 2000% 100% then there’s something wrong here. this season was once more speculatur however this time round there’s a new runner up in my Top 3 favorites Idol CD 2000%
Ichinose Tokiya – Snags the first place with CRYSTAL TIME and Independence. I’m telling you Independence sealed the deal and nothing can top it- NOTHING.
Shinomiya Natsuki – Although demoted from his throne from last season, Natsuki’s Idol CD once more blows you away. The full version of SIRIUS e no Chikai is just beautiful, I love listening it.
Hijirikawa Masato – This is hands down the most unexpected and new favorite. There’s something about his songs that just, how do I describe it… It might be because his songs have that historical tune or something ahaha, but hearing the full version of Koi Sakura was really captivating.
I really hope that they do release a Poison Kiss Single of the Quartet Night, as well for HEAVEN despite the fact how much I hate two of the members in it’s group. Seriously, everyone’s music blew me away and is enjoyable to listen to over and over again- except for Ren’s, but of course that’s a personal preference.
Finally, both the OP Theme: Canon by Mamoru Miyano (Tokiya’s Seiyuu) and STARISH’s theme song Maji LOVE 2000% are both really additive to listen to.
Utapri S2 Ep 11 Img 0011Overall Score: 9/10

This season of Utapri was everything I ever wanted and more. I was very critical of this show last season, especially with it’s unfavorable wrap up. This time with Uta no Prince-sama Maji Love 2000% the character’s screentime was far more balanced, they gave us both the back-stories and answered the unanswered questions from the first season and best of all- there was certainly signs of romance.
Recommendation: Absolutely
If you weren’t sure how things were going to turn out after last season’s crappy wrap up, rest assure this season is solid and I absolutely urge you to watch this one. It will definitely satisfy you.
As for new the audience, give this series a go if you enjoy music, bishies and comedy. The first season doesn’t have any romance, but this season at least features it both boldly and discreetly.
