Well, shit. I thought my body was ready. And you know what? It wasn’t.
To be honest, I’m not actually sure what just happened. I mean, one moment Ilya was sitting there crying, and my heart went out to her…seeing Ilya sad makes me sad too. And after what happened to her in the UBW route, I never want to see her anywhere close to despair again ;_; Literally everything was in ruins, except that red bridge where Gilgamesh fought Rider and his manly charging. And then…a seal of some sort broke? I’m guessing it’s a latent power, which Ilya used to directly install the Class Card into her, without Ruby’s help. While unconscious, somehow. It was already pretty cool at that point. Then Kawasumi Ayako did a bit more grunting, and suddenly…RHO AIAS.
Oh god that entire fight sequence was epic. I almost feel sorry for Saber. Seriously guys – Ilya best girl, or Ilya best girl? You can have pictures instead of words this time, no words can describe this. We didn’t just get Kanshou and Bakuya. We got Overedge. With the feathers!
Ilya-tan <3 Look at that badassery. There’s even Caladbolg II!
I think I’m gar for Ilya now…wait is that even possible?
Though having Avalon too would be far too overpowered.
Okay I lied, I do want to talk about stuff. Firstly, that Emiya OST! It’s been Emiya family tradition to have remixes of the same song playing while they fight at the peak of their awesomeness, and finally Ilya’s been inducted in. At long last! To be honest, the rest of the OST is pretty sweet too – even before Emiya, the tracks playing during Saber’s rampage were befitting a member of the Fate franchise. It fitted the overall mood of despair at the time, what with Excalibur making massive holes in the sea and all. I’m definitely going to get my hands on a copy whenever it’s released!
From what Miyu said, it seems Ilya turned into a Heroic Spirit itself in order to get enough power to beat Saber. Even so…I’m surprised she managed to project an Excalibur with enough mana to overpower Saber’s one, especially after she grew increasingly pissed at being forced back. Heck, I’m surprised she managed to project Excalibur at all! I guess they don’t have mana restrictions over there? 😀 Anyway, I’d love to see Archer Ilya return one day – it’s a shame she has no memory of anything. It’d be great if she could learn to control that ability instead of activating it through emotions. Either way, with Saber gone, we only have Assassin and Berserker left. Out of the two, Berserker seems more likely to be the last boss…ironic given Ilya’s relationship with Berserker in Fate/stay. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if a Gilgamesh card existed. Actually, I’m pretty sure it does. Hmm…
