EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I found a copy of this movie at last so I am honored at long last to get to talk about the movie/valentines OVA’s for my FAVORITE yaoi series of all times, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi. This is the sister series to Junjou Romantica and while Junjou is good, I just think Sekai is better. So when I heard there was going to be a movie/series of short OVA’s of course I was hanging off the news about it like mad.

The protagonist of this movie is a minor character in one of the other characters story arcs, Yokozawa has played the ‘villain’ to the main couples relationship as the best friend who is also in love with the seme, Masamune Takano. The movie picks up at the part of the series where Takano tells Yokozawa to back the F-off. He isn’t, never has been, and never will be in love with him.

So of course, he goes and gets piss drunk. He wakes up naked in a hotel room with another guy from their company. Zen Kirishima, who has apparently got embarrassing pictures of Yokozawa that he will show everyone if Yokozawa doesn’t do what he says….

Lucky for Yokozawa his future love interest doesn’t seem to have too bad of a sadistic streak for the requests are all pretty simple things like accompanying him out to dinner or going out drinking. One day Kirishima has Yokozawa come home with him and we meet Kirishima’s daughter Hiyoko. Who is SOOOOO CUTE! She’s totally precious and you can instantly see Yokozawa’s mama bear instincts flare up.

Still young enough to be acceptable in a yaoi series.

The whole movie is filled with moments of Yokozawa getting to know Kirishima and his daughter, his slowly falling in love despite just having his heart broken. Of course it wouldn’t be Sekai without some kind of contrived yaoi drama in the middle to break up all the cute scenes but it’s resolved quickly enough and isn’t too over the top. It literally just consist of Takano and Yokozawa talking, Kirishima seeing them and commenting to Yokozawa and then Yokozawa going major tsundere and being like. “I don’t wanna see you ever again.” and running off before crawling back to apologize for being five.

His apology leads into their love confession which is pretty cute in it’s own right, it leads with Yokozawa being like, “You know I’m a stubborn, jealous, petty asshole right?”  and Kirishima being like, “Well yeah, kind of what I fell in love with about you.” It’s a lot more heart warming then I’m giving it credit for.
Yokozawa makes for a cuter uke then I would of pegged him for…touche’ series, touche’.

The real thing I was looking forward too in this was the Valentines OVA’s. Like Junjou, Sekai is split up in various arcs focusing on different gay couples. This series has the couples of Takano/Ritsu, Hatori/Chiaki, Kisa/Kou and Yokozawa/Kirishima to each their own on who their favorite couples are but I am rather partial to the main one [Takano/Ritsu] and the one with the strange 10 year age gap that manages not to be creepy somehow [Kisa/Kou]

That aside! The OVA’s, we start out with the same couple as the movie where Yokozawa gets a text from Hiyoko asking for his help to make her Dad some chocolate. This one is cute and is a wonderful follow up to the movie. Yokozawa gets to be all tsundere, you know, normally I hate male-tsunderes but I can’t help but find something charming about Yokozawa…maybe it’s because cats like him, I think I like him because cats like him.

The second one is the Hatori/Chiaki one and i’m not gonna lie, I hate this couple so I skipped it…I caught the end of it and there was some stuff about the guy who is in love with Chiaki that isn’t Hatori…and I didn’t pay much attention. THIS COUPLE IS SO BORING!

SQUEEEEEE!!!! THAT’S RIGHT, KISS HIM YOU FOOL!

ANYWAY, the next one was Kou/Kisa and I kicked my legs like a school girl during this one. Kisa waits outside the bookstore for Kou to finish work and sees the huge line of girls wanting to give him chocolates. Naturally he gets a little jealous, but then Kou comes out of work and is about to come over to Kisa as this girl comes up to offer him up chocolates but he totally turns her down, he gives Kisa some chocolate and Kisa gets all flustered because he doesn’t know what to give Kou in response since all the stores are already closed. Kou says he can give him a kiss, or say he loves him. Kisa gets all shy about it and says that those requests are impossible, Kou says then just being with Kisa is enough. His shine is enough to make Kisa blurt out that he loves his face, as Kou says that’s enough for him Kisa runs over, pulls him down and kisses him. SQUEEEEEE!!!! I can’t handle this cuteness!

The last, but certainty not least is the Nostalgia pairing or Takano/Ritsu. I have a problem! I love this pairing way more then I should and spend more time thinking about their relationship then is probably healthy! They’re at work and Takano has a pile of chocolates on his desk, Ritsu tries to be a tsundere around it and act like he doesn’t care. He is another exception to my male tsundere rule, AHHH, Rittchan you’re so cute!
Takano gives him a hard time about if he’s going to get any chocolates from Ritsu. HA, now you’re thinking about it. Totally thinking about it. So Ritsu gets all emotionally confused. He makes some curry…way too much curry.
Curry with chocolate in it, because he’s too much of a loser to do it the regular way! It’s okay Ritsu, Takano and I still love you. So yeah, Ritsu confronts Takano about how many chocolates he got and Takano’s like, “Those were all for the editing department, also, I turned down any personal chocolates.” and when Ritsu asks why, he says it’s because he’ll only accept chocolates from the person he loves.

I am not fangirling everywhere! Idk what you mean!!!!

What’d I think of this movie/thing of OVA’s? I LOVED THEM, THEY’RE SO CUTE. SO MANY FEELINGS ALL OVER THE PLACE. It was above and beyond what I expected for a movie about Yokozawa, he’s a pretty unpopular character with most of the fandom so I was sort of thinking they’d drop the ball on this but they didn’t. The animation was on par with/if not better then the stuff we see in the series. It was just good, now if I could just get an announcement for a season 3….please? PLEASE?
