OH SNAP!!!!! This episode was FANTASTIC. I loved how there was a stark contrast between Shun who wanted the match to be done and over and bubbly Sora was set to entertain the crowd.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 33 Img 0011Shun started out by openly sharing his past as soon as he found himself competing on the Heartland City stage. It was heart wrenching as I expected it to be, hearing how there was a time when dueling was a fun activity for kids and adults, but that all changed when they were suddenly assaulted by the enemy, turning their beloved city into a battlefield. Dueling became a way to survive, and if you weren’t strong, you would end up being perished. This is why Shun can’t find it in him to duel for the fun of it. He duels to survive, and trying his hardest to defeat the ultimate enemy.

But the crowd didn’t know what the heck he was talking about, so they think he’s crazy.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 33 Img 0009Sora for the entire episode was playing around with this cutesy mask on. He wasn’t being serious, so it makes you wonder just how strong he actually is. Truthfully, I don’t think he actually went all out against Yuuya. There is this side of him that we are about to see that is a twisted insane personality- which could very well be his true self. However there is one thing that I was able to pick out: Sora may not actually know Shun directly, but it appears that he may know what he is talking about. Given by how he reacted as the story went on, Sora seemed to have picked up that the story Shun was telling them is true. It would be interesting to find out whether or not wherever Sora had come from had faced a similar or same attack and whether or not he is a refugee- but it is far too early to say with the lack of information. However, we can confirm at least one thing about him: When Sora act all cutesy, that is actually him just being cocky and doesn’t perceive his opponent as a threat. He initially thought that Shun was playing on the defensive because he didn’t stand a chance- and boy he was wrong. Shun slammed him right off that high horse, making him shift his gears, acknowledging that Shun is someone he needs to go all out on. That being said, while Sora on the surface when he is having fun is all about entertaining the crowd, I wonder what the audience will think of his more uh, darker side. (I mean look at all the insane faces he’s making in the preview!) Hopefully we will learn more about Sora and his past now that it looks like we are about to see his true colors.

Yu-Gi-Oh ARC-V Ep 33 Img 0032I especially loved the fact they started off the duel on the defense. It was fun to see neither duelist straight out attacking their opponent and waiting to see how they respond as they set up their field. One of the highlights for me was how Shun cleverly had a trap prepared to return his Raid Raptor when Sora tried to use it to up Frightfur Bear’s attack. The ultimately highlight of the episode was when Shun made his first major attack against Sora, and BOOM. From a measely 100ATK to 2700 ATK,  the crowd is horrified, Sora is shocked and then I screamed, “OH MY GOD, HOLY SHIT.  THE STAGE. OI SORA YOU OKAY? I DON’T LIKE YOU, BUT SNAP THAT HIT!” It was glorious.

And Reiji, tch. Had the nerve to purposely select Heartland City stage for Shun’s duel. He even tried to have Shun use a Pendulum monster, but was rejected. On the other hand his reaction to the story of Shun’s past is rather unclear. We know that Reiji is trying to put together a group of powerful duelists to go off and fight against his father, but at the same time, I wonder a bit more about Reiji’s past. I also found it relatively strange how hostile Espurr-child was acting when Shun was on the screen.

Last but not least, now that Yuzu and Yuuya have exchanged information of what they know about Shun, it looks like Yuuya is somewhat caught up to the plot that has been meticulously avoiding him. It was great to watch though because as I expected, neither can really find it in them to cheer as much as they usually would for the match because they know just how dangerous is actually is. Instead, Yuuya was more focused on warning Sora to be careful- which Sora had waved off until he got that hell of a wake up call.

I hope we see more of the little girl’s commentary because I found that quite entertaining! “Not Mr. Bear!!!!” and “Where did the Sheep go?” Priceless.

The little’s girl voice grated on my nerves but if the kids scream horrified with Sora’s new monster I will be horrible pleased even if it will fuck my ears! 8D*SADIST MODE ON*
Godammit Yuma, you had one fucking job! You needed to protect a measly city, how did you fucked this up?!*bricked*
Ok jokes aside, this episode was a ballistic set-up for the cray cray frenzy that will be next one! Phuck, is Sunday close yet?!*sobs*
Congratulations Yuya! It took you, the main character, 33 episodes until you finally met the plot! Be careful to not have more 30+ episodes stolen by someone else ok?Thks bye.
For the first time in the story of YGO franchise a duel won’t be obvious about who’s going to win, I’m so hyped I could die!! GAHHHHHHHH!!!!
BTW SHUN, it’s ok and nice that you’re sharing your backstory and it’s nice to know that you weren’t a lunatic since the day you were born, but could you give us a illustrated film or something? I really want to see a glimpse of your sister you asshole!
Arc V is being so awesome right now, I always wonder how they can top each Top-notch duel, but Arc V is doing an amazing job is surpassing my expectations, I wonder how they can even top this HOLY Sh*T duel!
    …. Sorry for ranting, but I’m hysterical with HYPE right now. ;w;

I am really looking forward to the shift of the mood for next week. Everyone is scared of Shun right now, but soon it’s going to be Sora scaring the crowd and it’s going to be freaking sick to watch. By the time the duel ends everyone including the MC is going to be completely speechless.
Another interesting thing to keep in mind is that Shun has also questioned whether or not Sora is a “True Fusion” Duelist. I get the feeling we might get to see that and possibly real life damage coming from Sora as well considering his Fusions have been popping up on LDC’s Summoning Detector System.

Shun is so melodramatic about his plot, it’s kind of hilarious. The audience’s “literally what is going on” reaction was great. Yuzu’s “oh right, Yuuya doesn’t know about the plot yet” was also pretty funny.
I’m really looking forward to the next episode, it looks like it’s going to be amazing. Sora’s had so many suspicious moments that I’m not sure whether which outcome (good guy or bad guy? neither? rogue?) I’ll be more surprised about. And apparently next episode will be the crowning glory of all his “I’M KINDA SUSPICIOUS, DON’T YOU THINK?” moments lmao. I’m looking forward to the new monsters they’ll put out next time.
I’m guessing Shun might win this duel despite Sora’s preview talk for next episode (jfc Sora), since well still know next to nothing about Ruri and all. Right now I’m thinking that she’s part of those masked knights and had her memory rewritten or something. Like Shun wins and goes on to duel against one of the masked knights and then HI, IT’S YOUR LOST LITTLE SISTER! SURPRISE! HAVE FUN! she even uses fusion!
But if Sora wins, we might finally get some insight on the fusion side of things if he’s actually part of that side. What does he even want aaaargh.
Also wondering when Yuuto will show up again. But until that happens, I’m having fun imagining him repeatedly trying to get into the arena, but getting teleported back to that alleyway every time since Yuuya and Yuzu’s bracelet are already there, the poor guy.

+ Plus Sora’s commentary made it even more hilarious. It was too good to pass. I never would have thought Shun would have been the melodramatic story teller. KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE. I wonder how Yuuto would have reacted if he was watching- well I am sure there are bound to be fanarts comics of that somewhere. LOL!
I want Shun to win because I want to see Sora knocked off his high horse. He is always radiating with confidence and smugness that I want to see what becomes of him when that is stripped from him. I want to know whether or not that his true nature is something he wishes to hide because he scares people, hence the cutesy mask.
As for which side Sora is on: I think he is most likely neutral. He hasn’t been shown to be much of a team player as he is more of someone who does his own thing and show interest only in those who are strong or mysterious. But it certainly doesn’t take away the fact that Sora has been shady since the beginning. I can’t bring myself to trust him yet.
I also have a feeling that Ruri is probably one of the three Knights, and bring forward the potential RURI VS YUZU fight. It would be quite funny if her helmet were blown off and then the crowd is like, “WTF. THERE’S TWO OF THEM.” I imagine her dad to be even more confused, and would probably pass out.

*SPITS OUT DRINK* OMFG AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A COMIC STRIP OF THIS.
THAT WOULD BE GOLD TO SEE IT ACTUALLY HAPPEN!!
