Well, it’s a new chapter of Shirobako, and with this new start up, comes a new theme song. Which….is…slightly better than the last one I guess? I mean…it’s not going to win any awards but…it’s…good.

So where did we leave these guys off? Oh yeah. Exodus just ended and they got the new project of “Third Aerial Girls Squad”. Which apparently is a big deal. So right off the bat, we see that since a few people quit and the blonde girl’s still visiting her dad in the hospital, they’re a little understaffed.

As such, the dude with the ponytail puts Miyamori at the head of the production desk and the mohawk guy as head production assistant. They need to hire some more, so he’ll be involved in that. However, Miyamori has a lot more on her plate. She has to make sure that everything gets done and everything goes where it needs to. As they illustrate with jelly bubbles.

Damn...that's a lot of jelly bubbles
Damn…that’s a lot of jelly bubbles

One of the first things she has to do is have a meeting with the director, who is gong to be the same director as Exodus, probably to keep the cast somewhat intact even though they lost red haired guy and fat guy.

They need to find a character designer so they ask gothic lolita chick to do it. She turns them down and tells them that the girl with glasses would be much better at doing it than she would.

Pfff. I don't have time for that. You know how long it takes me to get ready in the morning with this setup? sheeeettt boy
Pfff. I don’t have time for that shit. You know how long it takes me to get ready in the morning with this setup? sheeeettt boy (I am assuming this is how gothic lolita’s talk)

Afterwards they go to meet with an art director who really really loves clouds for some reason.

Seriously they spend a whole scene talking about clouds. I get what they’re going for, they’re trying to establish how important even the smallest things can be in an anime, but it’s just amusing hearing this guy get so passionate about clouds.

Personally, I like to put my dick in Nimbostratus clouds.
Personally, I like to put my dick in Nimbostratus clouds.

Seriously, he might take the job because the director can’t tell him what his favorite kind of cloud is and why. Now THAT’S dedication to a visible collection of particles of water.

This episode is really on the move as next they have to visit with the original author. However, he doesn’t show up but his agent does for 10 seconds, tells them to do whatever and leaves.

"Thank you very much. I work for douche illustrations"
“Thank you very much. I work for douche illustrations”

After that we find out that since hardly anyone knows anything about military vehicles and this IS a military show, they have to do a bunch of research, and that means…FIELD TRIP!

"Call me...Iceman" "Sir...you're not Tom Cruise" "...you're fired"
“Call me…Iceman”
“Sir…you’re not Tom Cruise”
“…you’re fired”

After THAT (Jesus a lot happened in this episode) you’ve probably been wondering to yourself, “what the hell happened to the voice actor girl?” Well your question is answered as we learn that she actually has an audition for…..get this- “Third Aeriel Girl Squad”! I know right? What a coinkidink

I can't think of a joke because I actually like this character..damn it.
I can’t think of a joke because I actually like this character..damn it.

and to wrap up this episode, the girl finished the character designs and they’re great. Huzzah.

Look at it! LOOOOKK ATT ITTTT!!
Look at it! LOOOOKK ATT ITTTT!!

At that’s basically where the episode ends.

As I said before, this episode actually had quite a bit happen, which i’m not too surprised with as they’re starting a brand new anime and we learn what goes into adapting an anime from manga. So many elements go into it and a lot of that pressure to get everything done is now put on Miyamori. Unfortunately, I do not care as much about her plight as I have said in previous reviews.

Oh no you have to read manga and make an anime. boo hoo

Truly. The world's most difficult job
Truly. The world’s most difficult job

Not only is she in the industry, she is LITERALLY THE PRODUCTION DESK. I don’t even know WHY i’m supposed to feel bad for her or her “plight”. She is one of the most important people in the making of this show next to the director and producer and just because she has a lot of work we’re supposed to be worried or care or something? I really don’t give a single shit about Miyamori. And that’s the problem with this show. They act like she’ the main character and we’re SUPPOSED to care. I don’t.

The voice acting girl was in the episode for about 2 minutes and I cared WAYYYY more about her stuff than anything that was happening with Miyamori.

Not to say I didn’t enjoy the episode, but that’s because it teaches me all about what goes in to making an anime. To me, minus the voice acting girl, Shirobako really is more like an educational yet fun animated documentary about how to make anime.

I feel if they made Miyamori more content about her current role i’d be happier with her but she keeps whining about not being sure what she wants. You’re neck deep in the industry, you’ll get there, shut up.

Can we please get back to the VA story?

Oh great! she’s about go have her audition! What’s the time code? 22:57? fuck. how long is the episode? 23:00? oh fuck you show. fuck you. Now I gotta wait until next week? you suck Shirobako.

Overall, interesting episode, lot of stuff going on, and I am looking forward to seeing them make this new anime but PLEASE can she get a role next episode? please?

Episode 6.5/10
