This is the Ultimate Showdown, good guys, bad guys and stealing as far as the eye can see and only one will win, I wonder who it will be. This is the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate thievery.
This episode it’s the battle of the bands….er thieves as France’s famous phantom thief Chat Noir sends out a challenge to Kaito Kid to see who can steal this Cat Eye jewel first. As we all know, Kaito fails epically at turning down a challenge so even though this jewel isn’t something he is interested in stealing at all since it’s not a large jewel that he is after.
Also, Hakuba is back. Well, not really back but he actually shows up in this episode. I’ve only been waiting since like what? Episode 2 or 3? He was prominent in the first opening and doesn’t even like show up in the second opening and they choose NOW to bring him back into the series? Seriously? Did I not spend a bunch of episodes bitching about how much he got shafted.
In the end he still sort of got shafted, he’s not even in Japan. He’s in France and he calls Kaito and gives him information so I guess that counts maybe?
It’s confusing. Well anyway, this episode is honestly kind of a slow one it’s setting it up for the second one. Nakamori of course is on security duty, however, he’s not the only one. He has not just himself, but a insurance person, a security guy who wants Nakamori to risk his own hand to protect this jewel….and various other people that I’m sure are important but the anime won’t do much with right away kind of like Hakuba.
So uh, apparently Chat Noir is the kind of person who would stop at nothing to get his hands on the cat eye jewel…including cutting off a huge amount of a person’s hair or even their finger.
Poor Nakamori…like seriously, this poor guy gets so much abuse because he hasn’t been able to catch Kaito Kid all these years. Do these people really think they could do a better job?
Really, all this was, was a set up episode. There is stuff i could talk about if it wanted to get into the nitty gritty details but for a show like Magic Kaito 1412 the whole joy comes from watching the episode yourself and saying to yourself, “Oh hey, that was really clever.”
I’M SO WORRIED FOR DETECTIVE NAKAMORI, protect the comedy detective at all cost! So Kaito goes in to do the heist. Well, first, he comes in dressed as a riot cop coming in with a bunch of bright lights to shine onto Detective Nakamori.
This overloads the power and shuts off all the lights, Kaito pops up right next to Nakamori with a lighter and gets all the cops to jump on Nakamori and create chaos.
The ring is ‘stolen’, a dummy of Kid flies by the window and the insurance lady heads off to try to go capture him. While the other guy and Detective Nakamori stick around, however, is everything on the up and up? Kaito drags an unconscious version of the other guy…what’s his job? Head security france….purple hair mc-i don’t care because you were mean to Detective Nakamori face.
So Kaito goes to set up his escape with the Cat’s eye jewel in hand or…is it really? Well, not according to this phone call from Chat Noir! Who obviously has the real ring. No wait, Kaito has the real ring. Or is it Chat Noir?
They legit go back and forth for a while about which one has the real one and in the end it’s Kaito. Because he’s a boss and stole it off Nakamori’s tie in the previous episode when he was helping the inspector adjust it.
Oh also, the insurance lady was Chat Noir. I wasn’t that shocked, I’d already kinda guessed. Can’t tell you how I figured it out, it was really just sort of a hunch that I relied pretty strongly on. She discusses why she does, what she does. Kaito returns the ring to her and comments that their reasons for stealing are rather similar and….
OMG, WHY IS HE PERFECT? WHY DOES PERFECTION COME IN THE GUISE OF A PHANTOM THIEF? HE’S NOT ALLOWED TO BE THIS GOOD OF A PERSON. STUPID KAITO AND HIS STUPID CARING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES FEELINGS AND HAVING HUMAN EMOTIONS AND WAAAAAHHHHHHHH.
These were two pretty solid episodes, I couldn’t really bring myself to care about Chat Noir but if she shows up again I might gain some more interest in her. I think we’re looking to have some more Hakuba in the next episode. So yay, i’d actually given up on my wish that he would be in the series more often but I guess I gave up a little too soon. Thank you anime producers for granting my wish at last.
See you, Next Illusion.
