After the mehness that was last episode of Yoru No Yatterman, I was actually very worried about the future of this show. I was hoping that the previous episode was just a one-off of not good. And, thank god, that was the case, because this week’s episode was GREAT.

This episode brought back everything I loved about the show. Well enough about me talking about how great this show was, let me actually tell you what happened.

So this episode starts up with the gang running away from the Yatterman, narrowly escaping them several times. It’s then that Boyacky, seeing that Leopard could get hurt from this vendetta she’s set out on, suggests that they stop trying to give the Yatterman a forehead flick before they get anymore seriously hurt.

She reacts exactly as you’d expect and freaks out.

She then proceeds to run away telling them that she’ll go to the yatter kingdom by herself.

After they get separated the gang once again gets chased by the Yatterman, but unfortunately Gatchan gets captured.

Leopard finds herself being cared for by a townsperson who lets her stay the night.

The next morning Leopard finds out that the Yatterman are using Gatchan as bait to draw the rest of the Doronjo out, threatening to kill him if they don’t come out.

Unsure of what to do and afraid as she is alone, Leopard finally digs down and finds the courage to confront the Yatterman all on her own.

As she’s about to get shot however, Boyacky and Tonzra show up with a giant mech and save both her and Gatchan and they escape. (Sadly the townsperson who helped her out died though)

It’s then that Leopard changes her goal. It’s no longer to give them a forehead flicking, but to overthrow the Yatterman entirely and bring peace to the world, and boyacky and tonzra promise to keep up with this goal of hers until it succeeds.

End of episode.

This episode was SO much better than the last one. I’m just getting that out there right now.

Everything about this episode was better. The pacing, the emotions, the theme, everything.

This episode dealt with a very real aspect of the show in general. This is a little 9 year old girl figuratively taking the weight of the entire world on her shoulders and there is a very strong chance she’ll get hurt or killed while trying to obtain this goal. But the group pushes through the uncertainty and realizes that this goal is more than any of them and none of them can do it on their own, and if they all don’t do it, nothing will ever get better.

This is the show I fell in love with. There were some scenes of comedy, but a good majority of the episode was dealing with real issues. Being nearly executed, people helping them dying, and nearly giving up on a goal because it might seem unattainable.

This is not an easy task they’re trying to accomplish. They are literally trying to change the entire government of this world. And despite the fact they can build giant mechs, this goal is not an easy one to accomplish, and it will require tears and disappointment.

I love the main characters of this show. I love Doronjo, I love Tonzra, and I love Boyacky. They are all just wonderful. I could seriously watch a Naruto length show with just these three guys. They feel like family and I want them to succeed so much.

This is one of those episode that, while it didn’t move the plot along too much, it really developed everyone by leaps and bounds, and I enjoyed this episode immensely, and I didn’t want it to end.

Keep it up guys, seriously. I look forward to this every week.

Episode 8.5/10
