I will be frank: Just barely five minutes into the episode and I already wanted it to be done and over-with. Sure there were some cute moments, but honestly it didn’t appeal to me. Nothing significant happened, making it incredibly boring to watch to the extent it was a snooze fest. Fans who like Reiji may have enjoyed it, and I will respect that, but since I am not a fan nor do I even care about him, this episode didn’t click for me.
Reiji’s character is just as Haruka described him, kind, nurturing and a true idol, but as an viewer, I find him to be a also a bit of a classic romantic based on his tastes from fashion, automobiles and personality. The way he flirts is more passive and subtle compared Ren’s boldness. Heck, he even confessed to her- yet despite the fact he said he was joking, but I do still see some truth in there because let’s be honest, they all have feelings for Haruka, and that includes the Quartet Night members. However some of the things he do while working with others, in this case: Otoya and Tokiya for the magic work, ends up making the situation very awkward. I mean Otoya and Tokiya already were feeling down how when they were left to host the magic show or whatever it was on their own, Reiji suddenly pops up in the screen and steals the show. And if that wasn’t bad enough, he just slaps them in the face with the revelation how the screen pop up was a recording done so perfectly, the two of them thought it was a Live Feed! The fact Reiji was able to predict everything they were going to do made it extremely awkward.
Finally, last but not least, while Reiji’s song was nice, I also found it to be a bit forgettable. How so? It felt like it was flying over my head, which is a bizarre way to describe it- but it’s because I usually end up repeating the tune in my head even after its done playing.
It would make my life easier if there were previews, but unfortunately there aren’t any so I feel like I have to stay committed until I see the next episode. Up until this point for this season, my predictions of whose episode it was going to be was more or less on the mark, but now that the character/cross units central episodes should be finished now, I don’t know what will take place within the next four episodes. Here’s to hoping for actual plot since I am quite sick and tired of what we have been given this season. I just want progression since it would suck to drop it so close to the end.
