Rokudou’s father is the biggest piece of scum ever. He’s just so unbelievably awful. How low do you have to be to take money from your own child? From when he was a little boy? Leaving him in debt AND SPENDING THE MONEY ON WOMEN?! He’s just so bad. So incredibly bad, I don’t know why Rokudou didn’t just stab him.

I’d stab him myself honestly.
He’s left his poor kid in poverty for shit’s sake, and he still continues to try to take more money from him. With his weapon, the Blood-Sucking Fire Wheel, though I think the most appropriate name would be Money-Sucking Fire Wheel. Because anything it touches, whether it be clothes or food, it turns into the money it’s worth. The wheel touches Rokudou’s scythe and it turns into a 5,000 yen bill. Honestly, this asshole is money hungry. It’s just money with this guy I don’t know how else to describe him. In one part of the fight, Sabato tries to get Rokudou’s fingerprint so he can use it to get money. He sprays ink all over him and opens a door from the ceiling where papers rained down on the boxing ring. Rokudou tripped and got his mark on one of the papers, which was a marriage paper but was actually a forgery of a loan. He also still tries to marry Rokudou with one of the girls in the room, and that’s where the romance comes in.

Earlier when asking why Rokudou wouldn’t marry one of the Damashigami girls, Sabato thought it was because he already liked a girl. To which Rokudou was bad at hiding. And of course the girl he likes is Sakura. And even though Sakura doesn’t show it much, she likes Rokudou too as in the end she was glad Rokudou didn’t get married.

Really, Sakura is a hero. Thanks to some random seal, she was given a paper that led to Sabato’s room where a safe was. Easily finding the key and figuring out the passcode of the safe, Sakura found Rokudou’s scythe and the other things that the Blood-Sucking Fire Wheel touched. The wheel and the safe are connected, and she was able to return Rokudou’s scythe. In the end she also took a lot of money and Rokudou’s bank book and forged seal, so his father won’t be able to steal money anymore. But I think the real hero is Rokudou’s grandmother, as she was disguised as the seal and helped Sakura out, while also beating up Sabato and ending the fight. Too bad she couldn’t cancel the cosigner debt.

[HorribleSubs] Kyoukai no Rinne - 11 [1080p].mkv0092Back to the romance, the Damashigami girls were getting pissed and wanted to marry Rokudou. But then his grandmother announces to everyone in the room that Rokudou and Sakura are dating. They both went with the lie, but Rokudou was waiting for Sakura to say that it bothered her, but she didn’t. Like Rokudou said, she’s pretty hard to read as she’s not very expressive. When they’re heading back home, Jumonji asks if the dating thing was a lie or not. Sakura says yes it was, and Rokudou is obviously upset by it. The rest of the night he thinks about it with a blush on his face. He really likes her. Poor guy. I don’t know when they’re going to touch more on the romance between them because I think they would make a good couple. They certainly make a good team together. But I don’t think either are going to confess any time soon, as they both are still confused about their feelings. Or more like Rokudou is confused, and Sakura just doesn’t realize it yet. Kinda feel bad for Jumonji though. He bought that fake pendant because he’s so desperate. Unfortunately he’s just the third wheel.

Finally, the pretty girl from the opening is being introduced next week! She looks so cool.

Unfortunately still a weeb

Manga readers have warned that after 7 years, the manga
has become solidly a ghost-of-the-week series with absolutely no overarching plot or end goal, and pretty gag-heavy.
Some people also complain about the similarity of Rinne to Takahashi’s previous works, in that “she clearly found her winning story formula in the 90s and has never deviated from it since”. That said, I can’t complain if it allows her be financially secure (she was/is one of Japan’s richest mangaka) whilst doing what she likes. After all, how many of us have that option in life? 😉
