God, why am I still giving this show a chance? It’s going to continue trolling me, I know it.

This week, Quartet Night were acting like smug assholes claiming how there is no way STARISH is going to get into the Triple S event. To rub it in their faces further, Reiji claimed they will take Haruka to work for them going on how Haruka isn’t ‘coming back’. Of course Haruka doesn’t care for Quartet Night like she does for STARISH. This girl is the one who put the freaking group together in the first place, and she wants them to perform at the Triple S, so while Quartet Night yap on about her missing, she is being productive elsewhere composing an ‘epic’ song for STARISH that will send Quartet Night flying to the moon. However, despite her awesome song, and STARISH’s lyrics they had all feverishly worked together to finish the job, Shining claims their revolution is still not complete. I genuinely wonder what the in world are they missing. The only thing I can think of, is confessing their love to Haruka- that’s literally the only thing they haven’t done yet simply because LOVE IS FORBIDDEN in the Shining Agency.

While Utapri revolves heavily around its comedy, there are some moment of melodrama. Today they tried to have a moment of a heavy and tense atmosphere, but I wasn’t feeling it. One of the blames is the fact, as you know if you read last week’s entry, I found Quartet Night’s big song they are going to perform at the event was far from amazing. It was average at best. So while the boys all with grim faces of how far ahead Quartet Night, I am sitting here at my desk saying, “Stop playing it, it’s not even that impressive. I can’t take this seriously. #NOT IMPRESSED. You’d expect it to be more epic. GLOWING? The script doesn’t match the quality of the song.”

The episode was more or less of a recap covering why STARISH is so thankful for Haruka and how she has positively affected them individually when they have first met her. Now let me get this straight: the “thankful recap” wasn’t the irritating part of the episode, the was whenever where they would each repeat the same fucking thing seven fucking times over and over again. OH THE AGONYYYYYY~. If you were to look at my rage notes I took, the majority of it was filled with my rage notes, and I will share three comments.

    • STOP WITH THE SEVEN WELCOME BACKS,
    • WHY YES THEY WERE STANDING ON THE-SHUT UP WITH THE NAMES ENOUGH, WE DON”T NEED YOU TO HEAR YOU A MILLION TIMES SAY THE SAME THING
    • JUST SAY IT ALL AT THE SAME FUCKING TIME DAMNIT!”

If you can pin-point the exact moment when I said them, you get bonus points.

Yeah, I was pretty frustrated, hence the caps locks. I am just so sick of it, it drives me nuts. Is it really that difficult for them to say all at once? Don’t they have anything more valuable to add or to put in instead? UGH! I don’t have the patience for it!

It certainly did not help how the animation quality was a complete disaster today. My goodness it was bad. Utapri usually has decent to good quality animation which I have rated on average of 7/10 for the past two seasons, and this season in particular has definitely stepped up on the consistency of the quality… until this episode happened. I don’t know what happened. Either they ran out of time or something to do with the budget… but there were some terrible framework. I think it’s the worst I have seen in Utapri to date to be honest. The first scene of STARISH walking down the hall looked more like an incomplete framework due to the choppy animation.

I am truly surprising myself for sticking with this show despite the fact I know it’s not really worth my time if all I am going to do is rage-quit and rant every episode. Yet despite that, I continue to give this show chances, I continue to hang on in hopes I will finally have something positive to write about. Of course there are only two episodes left, so I guess for my own sake, regardless of how frustrated I am, I should complete the coverage. Who knows, maybe they will somehow wing it.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THE REPEATING THING BECAUSE IF YOU WEREN’T, I WAS GOING TO. One thing I really hate about this show is the script. It’s awful. I don’t know why they need the boys to repeat everything. No, we don’t need to hear “Welcome back” from each of the seven boys. We don’t need to see separate shots of them running. We don’t need to hear each of them say her damn name or fucking say they want to write a stupid song. Or just repeating back a sentence as a question. Like last episode, Haruka said she wanted to write a song for Quartet Night that would make them shine, then they repeat it as a question “Make a song…that would…make us shine?” Kill me. I don’t remember if they did that a lot in the other seasons since I haven’t seen them in awhile, but every time they do I just want to cry. It’s so bad.
That’s a big thing that irritates me but the drama really sucks too. Basically everything you said I completely agree with. Quartet Night’s song is pretty catchy, but amazing? Nah. The drama is so bad it’s laughable. Also with laser beams shooting out of his freakin eyes you’d think Shining actually approved of STARISH, which is what I was expecting but I really don’t know what he wants from them.
But let’s be real, Eva. No one is going to confess their love to Haruka. NO ONE. They’re probably going to hold hands in the end or something cheesy and stupid. Say goodbye to TokiyaxHaruka. >:T I don’t know why I’m still watching this show either. We’re both idiots.

Yeah agree, the script is crap. It’s like they aren’t even trying anymore, just milking the cash cow. *SIGHS*
We’re both crazy. Yeah trust me, I am honestly not expecting anyone to confess or receive any canon ending, but that stupid shipper in me is like, “Let’s just waittttttt and hope and see” and my logic is like, “No. It’s not gonna happen.” I feel like if I don’t finish this season, I will put to all the hours I have put into this train-wreck season to waste. God forbid a 4th season.

At this point I’m only watching this season for the songs, the only episode I enjoyed was Ranmaru’s episode, the rest was very cringy.
I dunno, I really liked Quartet Night’s song, it’s not as good as Poison Kiss, but I still enjoyed it as well as Tokiya’s + Masato’s Cross Unit song, the others aren’t bad too, the only ones that didn’t impress me was sadly Otoya + Shinomiya Cross Unit and Reiji’s song, I liked the songs here better than season 2.

I’m only in this for the songs too at this point. I’ve given up on paying attention to the individual characters episodes especially since it’s the same formula and same result in every episode. This season is just painful when they aren’t singing.
As for the repetition, Eva took the words right out of my mouth.
