If you walked up to me and asked me, “who’s your favorite Durarara character?” I’d say Izaya in a heart beat. If in that same line of questioning, you asked me my least favorite I would answer Namie Yagiri. If we were to progress down the line, her brother would be next and then Mika after him. So here I am in the second episode of the second cour of season 2 of Durarara with an episode completely focused around the three characters I hate the most.

In this episode they did what they do best, remind me of why I dislike all three of them. Namie is in love with her brother, incest is creepy and paying your employers sisters to stalk your brother is REALLY messed up. So is calling her to a warehouse offering her the dismembered head that he’s in love with so you can give her more plastic surgery or you know, just kill her. That’s messed up too.
Then there is being in love with a dismembered head to begin with, that’s creepy too. Somehow, the guy obsessed with a dismembered head ends up being the least creepy of the three of them. There is something SEVERELY wrong with this group of people.

Then there’s Mika, oh darling Mika. Who has gone from ‘creepy #2’ to ‘Creepier’ on my scale of ‘Creepy, Creepier and F— U’ in this group. I mean, when you’re talking about eating a Dulahans head to become one with it so some guy will love you. That’s freaky, when you’ve busted into all three of Izaya’s houses looking for Celty’s head. That’s REALLY freaky. When you know all the secrets of everyone in town because you’ve been bugging them so no harm would come to your boyfriend. YOU HAVE PROBLEMS, GO SEEK HELP. PROFESSIONAL HELP, TAKE HIS CREEPY INCESTUOUS SISTER WITH YOU. THE ONE IN THE LEAST NEED OF THERAPY IS THE GUY OBSESSED WITH A SEVERED HEAD.

Alright, I’m calm now. Needless to say, this was not an episode I was really partial too. I spent most of it wishing all three of these characters would meet some kind of horrid demise. I’m actually warming up to Seiji a little bit as he treats Mika more like a person which is weird because I spent most of season one hating him almost as much as I hate his sister.
Seriously though, can she die? Also, even if he only stage kissed her with his fingers between their mouths. That kiss was still REALLY creepy, she was WAY too turned on by it.

There was still some stuff of merit in this episode, the talk between Shizuo and Tom, Celty in a school girl outfit…uh….yeah that’s what I got. What kind of creature were Shinra and Celty running from when Seiji was on the phone with them? Can I have an episode about their vacation made up of Celty in cute outfits and whatever the hell was going on in that scene? I would of much rather watched that then anything with Namie in it, she makes me ill and it hurts me to watch her.
CELTY IN A SCHOOL GIRL UNIFORM, ISN’T SHE CUTE? THE ABSOLUTE CUTEST, KYA!

I don’t know, I think the fact that you like Izaya makes YOU the creepiest character. 😉

Oh, did you mean in the show? 😉 Then sure. Mika’s as good as any. Most of the people in this series are pretty screwed up, but her stalker antics touch just enough on reality for us to think “there are actually people who would behave like that.”
