Yeah, I know. Normally I name my reviews something wacky or clever, but, honestly, I couldn’t think of anything to name this episode other than…well that. Because…that’s pretty much what the episode is about. I can’t call it “Raggedy ass idiots” because it wasn’t a bad episode. I mean…I GUESS i could have called it “The Three Stooges” But the characters weren’t annoying enough for that. So… yeah. For once i’m going to call it basically what the show called it. I know. Crazy right? See, I can be very nice when I want to. All righty then. What say we just start this review up. And before you ask, yep. Still in Japanese Raw. I mean, If they haven’t subtitled past episode 2 for this long, why start now?

So the episode starts out with 3 cocotamas living in the town park. It looks like one is based on a seesaw, one on the swingset, and I believe the third is the jungle gym.

well, they DO look a tad derpy in this pic.

From what I gathered, they live there because they were born out of the kids love for those three things. However, no kids visit the park anymore, and therefore they now hate kids. (that’s what I gathered with my limited knowledge of Japanese). So one day, Kokoro shows up with the TV Cocotama, Luckytama, and Merori, and they are confronted by the three who tell them to leave, and literally throws them out.

When I say literally I MEAN literally

Kokoro DOES notice though that for some reason they didn’t throw out an old guy that sits at a bench and feeds the pigeons.

The next day she talks to the old guy who tells her a story about how he used to have a pigeon but it got blown away in a storm and now he goes to the park to feed them as he misses it.

No! Quick! Get pigeon man! ...remember him? that guy from 'Hey Arnold'? ...anyone?

Kokoro decides to go back to the park and talk to the trio again. However, this time, she brings all of the cocotamas along for the ride. Upon arriving, the trio are pissed that they came back. The group says that they don’t think they’re such bad people and the cat one (and yes, that IS actually a girl) uses her magic to scare away the pigeons the old man was feeding.

Not gonna lie. Fucking with an old guy feeding the pigeons IS pretty dickish
Not gonna lie. Fucking with an old guy feeding the pigeons IS pretty dickish

Basically all the cocotamas rationalize that she’s probably a really good person. This pisses her off as she tries to throw some more magic at Luckytama, but she misses and hits the old guy who it actually helps him feel better and because of that, one of the pigeons fly back who happens to be the pigeon he lost. He wants to take it home, but he discovers that the pigeon found a mate and has a family, so he decides to take the whole family home.

Because this was technically a good deed, the cat cocotama gets a happiness star for her egg. Which she isn’t too happy about.

Sorry chick, you're an honorary care bear now

The episode ends with the group heading home and the trio staying at the park.

Honestly, I liked this episode. I saw this trio in the opening theme song and I wasn’t sure what to expect for the longest time, but… they were okay. I really like the cat one as it had the most different personality from any of the Cocotamas I’ve met yet. The other two were….meh, but the cat one made up for it. She tried to be badass but you can tell that underneath she’s a big softie and it made me laugh quite a few times.

D'awwwww...that's so cute
D’awwwww…that’s so cute

It was also interesting to see Cocotamas that weren’t just immediately complacent with everything and actually had some issues with humans and had to deal with things like abandonment and mistrust. I actually hope we’ll see these guys more in the future.

Yes, the old guy with the pigeon thing was weird, but it was a means to an end as there had to be some sort of catalyst to bring these two groups together other than “Hey they’re cocotamas too.” Whatever it was to be, there had to be some sort of outside force bringing these guys together, and I think the story was simple enough with a nice enough ending to warrant the diabetes level of sweetness it brought.

Don't mind me, i'm just going home with my pigeon family

After watching the trailer for the next episode I see that the trio will play a very big part in it, which is neat, as, like I said, I DO want to see more of them. Hopefully it will be as enjoyable as this episode. This wasn’t anything like the last one where I kept an eye on the timer of “how much time is left” and just enjoyed it for what it was. unlike Nurse Witch Komugi…seriously. goddamn it Komugi. All in all, cute episode which brought in at least one neat character. Let’s see where they go with this.

Episode 7/10
