This week Sakamoto kills it with kindness! Ironically as I found the first half less endearing than the previous ones I have much less to talk about, but we can examine some fun tropes: Like, don’t take advantage of Sakamoto because he will literally indenture himself to your servitude Screen Shot 2016-05-02 at 8.38.14 PMuntil he’s stalked you into a locked room and made you a PE bed to sleep in so you can rest. THEN HE WILL SING YOU A LULLABY. I found this half of the episode to be underwhelming because I don’t care about the guy who was trying to take advantage of him one way or the other and we’ve already seen him deal with people who weren’t really thinking of him in the best way. While it was never quite in the context as this episode, I just didn’t really care about it. We always know Sakamoto will come out on top, the best part was him essentially turning into the most handsome of perfect stalkers who wanted to sing him a lullaby.

I feel like the theme of these two episodes is borderline horrifying. Sakamoto becomes a much too devoted servant and then we see that Kubota’s mom is creeping on Sakamoto. I mean, we all want to be married to Sakamoto (it’s so sad, since I am already married to Sakamoto) but we don’t need to be creepin’. Middle aged women creeping on underage kids though, uh, I’m glad Sakamoto is really good at hiding. I admit I was very fond of the second half because of the sheer coolness Sakamoto Screen Shot 2016-05-02 at 8.37.39 PMyet again possesses. Namely, he is hiding from Kubota’s mom and she hears the cell phone he borrows go off and goes back to find him, he suavely turns the water on and it gets in her face as he answers the question asked on the phone and then runs out. Dammit Sakamoto, if this wasn’t exactly what was advertised on the tin I would be thrown off by how awesome you are! (I’m lying, husbando san)

You know what is so awesome about Sakamoto is that at the end of the day he genuinely holds respect for people and cares about their feelings. He doesn’t love or have any feelings for Kubota’s mom but seems to respect her loneliness enough to actively protect her feelings, he respects his elders even if they’re taking advantage, he wants the girls in class to become friends rather than simply ignores them, and he even tutors Kubota AFTER helping him defeat his own bullies and have pride in himself. What makes Sakamoto so infintely cool is ultimately that he actively gives a fuck about the world around him but is never brought down by anyone or anything. He’s perfect because he is perfect, and because he shares that perfection with people to make the world a better place.
