It’s pretty disappointing, but Kohane’s fear of heights was resolved pretty quickly. This episode in general was pretty weak and I thought about just leaving this and combining it with next week’s finale but I didn’t want to make things sour. Though…I guess that also depends on how I feel with the finale, which I can already guess what will happen. The show on the beach was done in less than a minute so they made a big deal out of it for nothing because we barely saw anything. The only thing of importance was the shoulder straddle stunt the girls had practiced.

Kohane is such a pure soul. She honestly wants to do the absolute best for her team and she wanted to get over her fear of heights by going cliff diving. Though Uki didn’t really have to worry since she was going to jump off the smaller cliff where little kids were jumping off from. But Kohane was being a little too crazy trying to force herself in facing her fears. But Hizume thinks its best battling heights through cheer, so she decides that she should do the shoulder straddle. It’s a little higher than before but she has Uki supporting her. I thought maybe they would have touched on this further and made the whole fear of heights thing for the entire episode with the beach performance at the end, but all of this was resolved so quickly. Uki fell while holding her but the rest of the girls caught them. Kohane remembered the crying faces of her friends when she fell down as a kid, but is shocked with the smiling faces of her friends this time. And it basically makes her feel better, because she knows she’s not alone in this. That’s it. I mean Kohane said this before when they did the double thigh base stand but she still hadn’t gotten over her fear then. But this time I guess she did. It just happened so quickly and so uneventfuly that I just kind of sighed as it all played out. And then the beach performance wasn’t very significant. But at least I can be happy that Kohane isn’t scared anymore? Yay?

The second half is a little more boring. The girls decide on getting part-time jobs in order to save up and buy new uniforms for the tournament. They head to the cheer store and try on different cheer outfits of different color and styles to see what they would like. I have to admit, I couldn’t help but laugh as Kohane clutched her backpack and money, terrified at the amount she had. She was acting like she robbed a bank or something, though I can understand that feeling. I get a little nervous having too much cash in my wallet too. Too much being more than $50.

It’s in this part that we meet the Nekoya twins. I expected them to be the bitchy rivals, and they’re not totally bitchy? They kinda are but they’re mostly annoying. I hadn’t expected them to be from Kana and Hizume’s old cheer group. Apparently they’re still with the same group and they’re all going to be in the same tournament as Hizume and the others. At first Hizume is worried about her old teammates seeing her again after such an awkward leave, but Kohane brings the cheer and is excited to show her old group how much fun Hizume is having now. Because she’s definitely not the same person anymore.

The girls decide on their colors and order their uniforms. Next week is going to be the tournament and the finale. This episode wasn’t my favorite, and I can already tell how the finale will be like. I shouldn’t expect shounen-style sports from this type of show because I’m definitely not going to get that, but I’m just not used to watching a sports show that isn’t shounen. And I’m not used to watching these moe shows so maybe that’s why I wasn’t sold on this episode? But like I’ve said before, I knew what I was getting into when I decided to blog this show. There’s been better episodes, though.
