Berry: I LOVE HAIKYUU! There’s not much else to say, I’m hyped as fuck for this. Even if I don’t like the art change, more Haikyuu is always a good thing~

Shadow: While I’m disappointed in the art style change that started in Part 1 (and the Land vs Air Ovas), I’m still looking forward to the second half of this season because we all need our daily doses of HYPE.

Quietcupcake: I only picked up this series a couple weeks ago with one of my friends and we’ve been binging to catch up in time for this new season. We’ll be caught up in time for this release and I’m super stoked to see more content!!

But something about this isolated town seems ‘off,’ and his feelings of dread continue to grow. With a gnawing fear that he’s right, what dark secrets could this small community be hiding?

~*~

Berry: Man it’s been a hot minute since I’ve seen Higurashi. It’s definitely one of my favorite anime and I was pretty shocked when they announced a remake. I personally love the original already but it’ll be fun to see how they better adapt the visual novel. No point in me blogging this since I’ve seen it and know the mystery, but I hope new viewers have fun watching! I know I will. >:3c

Quietcupcake: Okay, so I actually don’t know anything about the Higurashi series, but it’s been on my list for a ridiculously long time. The hype for it’s been building for such a long time, I figured I’ll start with this anime!

This is a story about fighting girls who aim to become Lilies at one such Garden.

~*~

Eva: Man when this was first announced, right away this sounded like this could be so much fun. I love it when magic and sci-fic are mashed together, so I really hope the story and characters delivers!

Berry: It’s always cool getting into Bushiroad’s multi-media projects, and this has definitely caught my attention. It sounds exciting and could be a great story if it stays serious. I’m always worried if it won’t deliver on the serious story and throw in lots of CGDCT stuff I don’t care for. However, I’m still going to give it a shot.

EvaOh man I am super hyped for this season, but gah, I am in a bit of a bind. The schedule is a big problem for me this season, because besides my retro-coverage, everything I am covering airs on the weekend, so that’s a lot of shows to cover back-to-back. I will give it a go to see if I can handle it and decide from there.

Berry: Damn it, every time I watch the PV it just looks so damn cool. I’m not quite sure what to expect from the story but I like demon-fighting stories from time to time. The animation is stunning and I like MAPPA’s stuff so I’m pumped to check this out as well.

A3! Season Autumn & Winter

Source: Game
Animation Company: 3Hz x P.A. Works
Website: https://www.a3-animation.jp/
Premiere: October 12, 2020 (JST)
Genre: Music
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis:

“Director! Please help us bloom!”

In Tokyo, there is a place called Velude Way. It is a district notorious for its performers and theatrical groups. Izumi Tachibana, who was previously a stage actress, arrives with a letter that reads, “Full of debt! Zero customers! Only one actor!” It describes the current state of the once-popular theater group Mankai Company. Her task is to rebuild the company to its former glory as the new owner and chief director.

~*~

Eva: I honestly don’t have that much expectations for this one, but I would say I am more interested in the two groups they are will be introducing to us this season. A3 Spring and Summer was okay, the Spring troop sucked and Summer one was much better because I actually came to like them. Hopefully I will enjoy both groups this time equally as much or more.

Berry: This anime wasn’t too bad. The first half was a little rough but ended up pretty fun in the second half like Eva and Shadow said. It’s a pretty harmless show and I liked it enough that I’ll watch the second season. I just hope the new guys are as good as the Summer troupe.

Shadow: I started this because my friend wanted to watch this together, but during the series’ hiatus, my friend fell out of interest with the series so I ended up watching it with Eva and Berry, which was a fun time. I definitely wouldn’t be able to watch the first season by myself because I just did not care about the Spring troupe. But by the power of watching it with others, was able to make it through to the Summer troupe and the characters and their dynamic was so much better. So I’m looking forward to seeing if I’ll like any of the other troupes or if Summer will stand supreme. Though there is one character in the Winter troupe I saw and was immediately like: I don’t know you but I’m already interested. o////o

~*~

Eva: Oh man this is the wholesome sweetness we need right now, it would be nice if nothing too dramatic happen, BECAUSE THE WORLD COULD USE SOME FLUFF RIGHT NOW!!!!!

Berry: This looks extremely sweet. The animation is soft and gorgeous and I’m excited to see how this romance will play out!

Quietcupcake: Ahhhh! This looks super cute. It seems super relaxed  and generally more slow paced, which is pretty exciting! I’m looking forward to this series just to see how the characters grow and bond throughout the episodes!

~*~

Berry: Again, always fun to check out Bushiroad’s stuff. I don’t really know much about D4DJ and I’m curious to see how they’ll handle the whole DJ thing because some of the music sounds very idol-like, and one of the groups feels like it (Happy Around). No harm in giving it a shot though.

Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle – Rhyme Anima
ヒプノシスマイク -Division Rap Battle- Rhyme Anima

Source: Other
Animation Company: A-1 Pictures
Website: https://hypnosismic-anime.com/
Premiere: October 2, 2020 (JST)
Genre: Music
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis:

After the war, women have taken over ruling politics in the Chuo ward and have banned and destroyed weapons. This has caused men to fight through rap battles using Hypnosis Mics, which can be used to affect people’s sympathetic nerves and influence their thought process. However, the legendary rap group, The Dirty Dawg, has split up into four groups, each representing a division of Tokyo, Japan and are engaging in territorial battles using words and the HypMics.

~*~

EvaOH MY GOD. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have have some sort of expectations of what we are going to see in this series. When I first learned that both Katsumi Ono and Shin Yoshida are behind this adaption, I burst out laughing because I can already see how fun and intense this can potentially be. And honestly, when I read how, “...Hypnosis Mics can be used to affect people’s sympathetic nerves and influence their thought process”, all I could think of is the amount of ways this mess up the opponents. I would like to believe this series is in good hands since Katsumi Ono has been the director for the Symphogear series (an action-music series). I’m not sure what to expect from Shin Yoshida though as he has primarily only done the Yu-Gi-Oh! series all the way up to YGO VRAINS, but I am curious to see how he will fare with a different franchise.

Berry: So I’ve always been curious about this series since I knew how huge it was, but it wasn’t until recently I really checked it out. Downloaded the game, watched videos, listened to the songs, and the anime hasn’t even aired yet but I already feel like a fan, just a tad bit obsessed. This is probably the most different music series out there simply because it focuses on rap and they don’t hold back on it, the music is lit. The premise is insane but I like rap and the guys are hot so this is my jam. I’m genuinely extremely excited for this anime and hope A-1 does a good job on it.

Shadow: One of my friends is super feral about this series so I’m curious to see what the anime will do. After the Ensemble Stars anime travesty, I’m very hesitant to put any trust into music game adaptations. But I will withhold judgement until I actually see what happens. My friend says she doesn’t expect quality but looks forward to a stupid fun time, which if done right, I’m sure I’ll be able to enjoy as well.

Hina’s naive innocence belies her powers, and she decides to live at Youta’s home for some reason. Thus begins an eventful summer before the end of the world.

~*~

Eva: Well color me excited. Although Key’s recent projects haven’t really grabbed my attention as their old ones have, I really hope this one ends up being good. Needless to say, I already expect this show to play my heart like a fiddle, hahaha!

Berry: I’m going to go into this cautiously. I have mixed feelings about the past two Key original anime (I liked Angel Beats from what I remember, and I hated Charlotte) but I hope this delivers on the hype.

Quietcupcake: This one seems like it could be pretty fun to watch! The concept already has me intrigued. I’ll be checking it out!

Synopsis: The third installment of the Love Live franchise, focusing on the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.

~*~

EvaOkay, I told myself I would give this franchise another whirl, so I’m just going to jump in on this one and see how it goes!

Berry: Just like QC I also downloaded All-Stars but stopped playing because I did not like the gameplay. I checked out a bit of the Nijigasaki girls’ story and I’m glad it’s at least different. I’ve kind of fallen out of Love Live since I wasn’t too big a fan of Sunshine (and the Aquors girls) but I’m hoping I’ll become invested in the story and the girls this time~!

Quietcupcake: I downloaded All Stars when it came out and ultimately stopped playing it because I just didn’t get invested in the game play. But I did really enjoy all the of the Nijigasaki girls, so I’m thrilled that they’re getting their own series! In the past the Love Live! anime has been pretty hit or miss for me, but I’m still excited to see what it will bring!

EvaI am so excited for the new season! Although they changed animation studios (S1 was produced by Madhouse), it still looks as crisp as the first– ah crap  I just realized I haven’t watched the movie yet either (I heard it wasn’t good though, so maybe I’ll skip it). I should probably do that before I watch this one…

Along the way, she would meet all kinds of people, from a country full of witches to a giant in love with his own muscles-but with each meeting, Elaina would become a small part of their story, and her own world would get a little bit bigger.

~*~

EvaThis is definitely one of my most anticipated series of the Fall season. It says comedy, but I just know this is going mess with my emotions anyways. The series is looking absolutely gorgeous so I hope it’s as good as it looks! I have been planning to pick up the novel too some time in the future.

Berry: Well this just looks beautiful. It seems like one of those slow, feel-good shows with a hint of emotional drama. I’m really looking forward to unwind with this one.

In an attempt to protect Raizel, his servant Frankenstein enrolls him at Ye Ran High School, where Raizel learns the simple and quotidian routines of the human world through his classmates.

However, the Union, a secret society plotting to take over the world, dispatches modified humans and gradually encroaches on Raizel’s life, causing him to wield his mighty power to protect those around him…

After 820 years of intrigue, the secrets behind his slumber are finally revealed, and Raizel’s absolute protection as the Noblesse begins!

Note: Noblesse episode 1 launches on Crunchyroll on October 6th at 6:00am PT (which is a day earlier than than the TV Broadcast in Japan).

~*~

Berry: Sigh…my expectations for this are extremely low. Personally, I haven’t been enjoying any of the manhwa adaptations by Crunchyroll and I feel like this won’t be any better. The vampire suddenly being in a school setting doesn’t help either, but I might be a fool to give it ONE MORE CHANCE.

Quietcupcake: Okay, so at first glance, this isn’t a series that I would usually go for, but it’s still caught my interest. I might stick around and hear what others have to say before jumping into it.

Dropout Idol Fruit Tart

The series follows a group of show business dropouts—rookie idol Sakura Ino, promising newcomer Midori Hemo, former child actor Sekino Roko, former model Maehara Nina and former musician Nukui Hayu—who all live in a dormitory together.

But when it’s revealed that the dorm is set to be demolished, manager Kajino Hoho has a plan: Start a new idol group called Fruit Tart with the girls, and pay off a hefty 100-milliion yen debt.

~*~

Eva: I am willing to watch anything that is fluffy and light-hearted right now, but music is a cherry on top!

Berry: This looks bubbly and cute and could be pretty funny. But wow that manager kinda sucks.

Quietcupcake: Ah! The main girl (and honestly all the others) is super cute! It seems super lighthearted and the perfect thing to watch when you don’t want anything too heavy. I’m looking forward to see how they handle the dropout concept!

Odin proclaims a counterattack against the Pillars by bestowing humanity with young female pilots with supernatural powers, the Valkyries, and their spirit fighter planes as a means of fighting back.

The battle between humanity and the Pillars has not abated, even after several years have passed. The Valkyries in their spirit fighter planes, as well as the men who support them, risk their lives in the skies to save the Earth.

Japan is no exception. Three Valkyries fight against huge Pillars that tower over sacred Mt Fuji. They are all very skilled, but every last one of them is a troublemaker. An ace pilot joins them from Europe, but she has a checkered past…

“Humanity, now is the time to fight back. The final battle of Ragnarok is fast approaching.”

~*~

Eva: I don’t know why, but I am sucker for fighter aviation stories. I am also excited because Re:Zero’s author Tappei Nagatsuki is behind this, and I would love to try covering this but MY SCHEDULE DENIES ME!!!! I’m still going to throw my hat in the ring in case I can make something work.

Berry: So it’s pretty cool that Re:zero’s author is behind this show, though I’m not going to lie the trailer didn’t convince me too much. However, I’ll give it a chance and watch a couple episodes to see if I’ll like it.

~*~

Eva: Besides the CG looking rough, I am digging the artstyle and most of all, I excited to see a series revolving around men’s gymnastics! LETS GO!

Berry: The CG looks rough but I can see this being an emotional story. And it’s about gymnastics so that’s cool!

Shadow: I don’t know what I was expecting from just looking at the cover to this series, but I definitely wasn’t expecting an anime about gymnastics. It seems pretty interesting and I’ll probably give it a few episodes to see if it’s something I can get into.

Quietcupcake: Oh, I’m super excited for this one! The trailer itself sent shivers down my spine and I can’t wait to jump into it! It’s kind of a wild card in terms of what it could bring, but I have high hopes that it might be a hidden stand out of the season.

The daughters of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha set out on a journey transcending time!

In Feudal Japan, Half-Demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family.

Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a Demon Slayer working for Kohaku. But to Towa’s shock, Setsuna appears to have lost all memories of her older sister.

Joined by Moroha, the daughter of Inuyasha and Kagome, the three young women travel between the two eras on an adventure to regain their missing past.

~*~

Eva: Grew up watching Inuyasha and I plead am guilty of having yet to complete the series- actually I don’t even remember what season I left off, so a while back I decided to start all over again and have been watching it on and off ever since. But that’s not going to stop me from putting off watching this until then because obviously I want to know who is the mother of Sesshomaru’s kids if they actually tell us anything about itNeedless to say, I hope this is actually good because some series are better off without a sequel/spin-offs.

Berry: Okay so I never finished Inuyasha but frankly I don’t think it matters all that much for this sequel. I kind of don’t care about this, but I have this morbid curiosity to see what this story will even be like. Do we really need this? Did this really have to exist?

Shadow: While a lot of series seem to be getting sequels, Inuyasha wasn’t a series I expected this from. Though I’m not gonna lie that I’m a bit excited to see what happens, especially with some information we’ve been given on how Moroha doesn’t remember her parents… Not to mention WHO THE HECK did Sesshomaru have babies with?!

~*~

Eva: This is among my wild picks of the season just because while it doesn’t really grab me but at the same time, I am also intrigued? Also there’s romance in the tags, so naturally I am going to give this a shot.

Berry: This didn’t make much of an impression on me before, but checking out the PVs it’s kinda gotten my attention. Seems pretty cool and fun.

Quietcupcake: This is another one of those series that I can’t seem to ignore. It seems like our cast is going to get into a lot of chaos and that is honestly what draws me into it. Based on the trailer it definitely gave me more Durarara vibes than I was expecting, but I’m really interested to see what it has in store!

~*~

Eva: Look I am a simple person, if it’s about romance I’m going to check it out and two, I AM HUNGRY FOR ROMANTIC COMEDIES! Also helps I have heard good things about this series, fufu, so yes I am excited for this one!

Berry: This sounds…weird. This is a show I’m going to hold back on and see what people say. It might not be something I’m in to but I can check it out if there’s enough positive reception. But wow, marriage before a date huh?

Shadow: Not gonna lie, I’m more curious about this series than I feel I should be. Maybe it’s because I want some random romance series in my life amongst the hype and action series? The premise sounds super strange yet intriguing and curious to see where the story will go. Though I feel like this could go either way on the good and bad scale so I’ll give it a few eps to see if I end up getting invested or not.

Eva: Well there gotta be something to scratch my itch for psychological mystery, and throw history in the mix and we have a winner!

Berry: So like Ikebukuro, this didn’t catch my attention until I really checked it out and it looks pretty sick. I always love me a good mystery and this setting is just cool. Let’s hope it delivers!

Shadow: This looks interesting, but I’m 50/50 with series like these so I’ll give it a few episodes and if it doesn’t interest me, I’ll most likely just drop it.

Quietcupcake: Once again I’m looking for something to satisfy that Mystery / Psychological / Mind Game itch and this looks like it has potential to satisfy it. I’ll definitely give a few episodes a whirl, but I do hope it exceeds my expectation

Shadow: This was a wild pick that I’m not sure if I’ll get into but I’ll give it a whirl just for the heck of it. The premise sounds interesting but we’ll just have to wait and see if it’s well executed.

Quietcupcake: It’s really the trailer that drew me into this one and I really am a sucker for the “lonely character finds something worth fighting for” concept. I’ll definitely be checking it out because I really hope it’s a good one!

Eva: These adventure games adaptions usually fall short for me, but I can’t help myself of giving them a chance. It would be nice if this were to be good since I would like to enjoy some more magical adventures without the isekai trope tact onto it.

Eva: I read a bit of manga adaption a while back in 2019, and while I wasn’t super into the art-style, I enjoyed the premise. Since I haven’t had the chance to read the light novel for this series yet and I like the character designs way more, I look forward to watching this. Hopefully they will adapt it well.

Berry: So this is just a sci-fi/fantasy Romeo and Juliet? I’m kind of curious about the romance, but this is going to be another show where I’ll sit back and wait to hear peoples’ reactions.

Overall Thoughts

EvaAfter so many series were postponed in the Spring and Summer, Fall is coming back swinging with some of our most anticipated titles! Compared to the tiny list from the Summer, there are a ton of shows I am looking forward to watching this season, but the ones I am the most excited for are: Haikyuu S4 P2, DanMachi S3, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, Kamisama ni Natta hi, Senyoku no Sigrdrifa, Assault Lily: BOUQUET, Hypnosis Mic, TONIKAWA, Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World There is a great variety so you really can’t go wrong this season.

Unfortunately as I mentioned earlier, my current schedule puts me in a bind. All of the series I would like to pick up are supposed to air on Fridays or Saturdays. Since Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, Healin’ Good Precure, Idolish7: Second Beat all come out during that time frame, we have the new series’ schedule clashes with the series I am already covering. So I have been going back and forth about whether I can even pick up any new titles this season. But with so much to look forward to, I would like to at least try to squeeze something into my schedule.

Berry: After a painfully barren Summer season, Fall is looking pretty amazing. There’s lots of shows coming out this time and lots of variety, and lots that have caught my attention. And I’m glad for that but I might take only a couple shows this time as I want to focus on a couple things in my life. I want to focus on two shows, but maaaybe I’ll push myself to do three. For sure I want to take Hypnosis Mic, and the other possibilities are Assault Lily: BOUQUET, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Yuukoku no Moriarty. They all look so interesting I’m not even sure what to pick, so look out for the first impressions. I’m also so glad that Idolish7: Second Beat is coming back, it just makes this season even better. And we get Haikyuu and Higurashi, the excitement just doesn’t stop! <3

Shadow: While Summer had very slim pickings, there is definitely a lot more variety this season. Unfortunately due to my arm injury, I can’t really afford to cover more than 2 series this season and one of them is already Digimon so I ca only handle one series this season. Which is a bummer because there are a lot of good and interesting shows coming out. I’m thinking of possibly picking up Haikyuu!! To the Top Second Season, A3! Season Autumn & Winter or Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon while keeping an eye on some of the other series this season to see where they go. And like Eva and Berry, I’m also excited to see ma bois in Idolish7 make their come back because Tenn has been standing outside the i7 dorms for several months, leaving us on that cliffhanger of wanting to talk.

Quietcupcake: Wah! There’s so many interesting anime coming out this season, I don’t even know where to start! So many of them have caught my interest, it’s going to be a wild first couple of weeks to see what they all have in store. As far as coverages, I think I’m most interested in picking up Taisou Samura and a toss up between Moriarty the Patriot and Ikebukuro West Gate Park. I also really, really want I’m Standing on a Million Lives to be good. And lastly I might consider picking up Adachi and Shimamura because I feel like it will bring a lot of sweetness and joy with it. Outside of those, I’ll definitely be joining in screaming with everyone over Haikyuu!! and Idolish7 because the boys are back and I’ve missed them!

This is why the blog’s my savior!!!!

I thought Fall didn’t have much for me until this post came out and you guys helped me discover and expand my list! I would have been missing out a lot (since I’m back in school- ugh what terrible timing- and once I miss a season I almost never have time to watch it during the new season).

But seriously, why did Fall have to be loads better than Summer?! I’m gonna have to figure out how to make time for most of them….

    1. Eva

Haha, we are glad we were able to help you out! 😉 Which titles are you are anticipating the most this season?

      1. V.

I definitely planned to watch Yashahime, and the Irregular at Magic School sequel- I loved both OST but I especially watched Inuyasha during one of my most difficult times this in life so it brings a lot of feels.

I have my eye on Sigrdrida, the rap anime, and well basically most of the titles you and Berry showed interest in- except for Idolish7 and A3. For some reason idol shows failed to grab my interest and I did look up the songs on YouTube but they just weren’t my cup of tea.

        1. Berry

I will mention that A3! isn’t an idol show. The anime/story is based all around acting and different acting troupes, and there was zero music in the first season. I’m actually not sure why the series is categorized as “music” when even the little bit I played of the mobile game there wasn’t any music. I wouldn’t exactly go out of my way to recommend A3 but just wanted to point that out lol

Huh, I was surprised to see that Osomatsu-san S3 wasn’t on your list at all because I remember someone of you mentioned that they liked the series (it’s been a while on that, so I could be wrong…)

    1. Eva

You are probably thinking of Hideki, he retired back in 2016 (so it has been a while).
He was the one who covered Osomatsu-san.

      1. Bibi

Oh, I know he did the review until Ep 12. But what I meant was of you others during that time would have mentioned it somewhere in the comments in his reviews.

        1. Berry

It’s probably me you’re talking about. I did watch the first season and I did mention liking it then, but I actually never watched past the first episode of the second season. I had good laughs with the first season but I’m not sure if I’ll ever get back to it.

          1. Bibi

Ah, I see … thanks for confirming that it was you, though.

  3. Williukea

Wow, almost all the animes I’m excited for this season are mentioned and in first two categories! Fall is looking good anime-wise!
