Hoo…. What a way to start a new arc. I’d say it’s nowhere near as stress inducing as the end of episode 12, but to hear of some of the additional developments makes me really sad. I can’t believe we’ve saved Draken’s life and here he is on Death Row!! No! You are supposed to survive and be happy!! It’s back to the drawing board for Takemitchy to save Hina, Akkun, and Draken once again and hopefully this time he’ll actually get to meet this Kisaki Tetta face to face.

And heck! It could be as soon as the next episode seeing as some is taking the 3rd division captain role. If that is the case, I’d be interested to see what he is like in the past. Perhaps we’re still in the idolization stage rather than the hatred stage. Or I’m completely off and it’s actually someone completely new and we’ll have to wait and see what they add to the plot. Either way, it looks like it’s not going to be easy for Takemitchy to reach the position that he wants. And that’s fair. He doesn’t really seem like a gang member, but rather just the good guy they like to keep around. At least, right now I don’t think he has what it takes to be a leader in Toman and that’s okay.

Jumping back to the beginning of the episode, I like that they took the time to show us Hina’s funeral. While her death was much more devastating to watch, it still hurt to watch Takemitchy’s long prayer and Naoto’s eventual break down at the sight. It’s honestly the first time we’ve seen him show a lot of emotion (well, he did snap a little bit at their awkwardness in the previous episode), but it really does show how much he cares about his sister. Also, he’s probably beating himself up because he left the two of them alone the night she died! If he didn’t go to work, he might have been able to save his sister’s life. All in all, I think they did a great job handling the aftermath of Hina’s (second) death. Also, it’s small, but I’m glad that Hina’s mom gave her necklace to Takemitchy. That was an incredibly kind thing to do and it really does make me want to save her no matter what.

Also, I don’t have much to say about Draken being on Death Row that I haven’t already said before. I would happily take out Kisaki on my own to save Draken, but I’m glad that in the future he was just the same old guy. Yeah… he has done something bad which made him end up where he is now, but he’s still a good kid at heart who cares about his friends. It’s just unfortunate that things have turned out this way. So, I hope we can save him again. It’s just a bummer that we were just able to save him from bleeding out and dying and now here he is… sentenced to death. At least he got to live out more of his life? For better or for worse.

Back in the past, I wouldn’t say that there was a whole lot of content, but what we did get was just everyone having fun, which was a much welcome addition to all the sadness that we had been getting. We just get some middle school boys fooling around in the bath. Also, I won’t lie and say that I didn’t laugh when Mikey gave Draken a solid punch to the abs. The timing was great, and it really was just two friends messing around with each other. Sure, there was a scene in the bath, but just seeing the two of them happy and alive was a good time. But we can’t keep staying with the good times, eventually we’re going to have to get to the root that’s causing all the problems in the future. So, next week (hopefully) things will start getting heated again.

I’m excited for this new arc, I don’t know what is going to happen, but it seems like a lot of people are hyping it up. Also, with a new arc comes new characters to meet and potentially a new OP and ED. If I’m honest, I really don’t want the OP to go away, it’s a jam and probably one of my favorites. The new ED will have to grow on me… but by the end of the arc I’ll probably like it. So, here’s to hoping that these next 12ish episodes are going to be a fun and wild ride!
