After several episodes of build up, I was really hoping this episode had some more action. And it did! …At the very end. This season of Rezero definitely feels more like a binge series rather than a week to week because having so many weeks of build up does kind of grate on me. I definitely need to rewatch this series from the beginning because while I do remember that there was a significant amount of build up episodes, I don’t remember it making me this impatient. Though I’m sure with how all parties are moving out to confront their respective opponents, it’s most likely going to be nonestop action from here on out… starting in February. I’m actually so annoyed that they ended the episode like that only to have us wait two months for it to come back. But if it means they’ll have really good quality, I’ve waited years for Idolish7, I can wait two months for the continuation of Rezero.

There were some things that were brought up where I feel like it’s been way too long for me to fully understand or remember the significance. Such as Otto being the one to bring the Tome of Wisdom and is currently having someone restore it. Was this the book that Ram burned in the second season? If so, it’s definitely sus that Roswaal would want it restored. Hopefully Otto conducts some precautionary measures in case Roswaal is planning something with it. Though I guess the more pressing thing at hand is that it is one of the things that the Witch Cult is demanding. So keeping it away from them is probably the top priority at the moment.

Priscilla continues to baffle and confuse me. I feel like I can never get a conclusive grasp on her character as she goes from charming in one moment, to downright dreadful the next. I legit cannot get a read on her and it leaves me feeling conflicted on how I should feel about her. She is definitely interesting and I would like to know more about her and her thought process because everything just leaves me stumped. It’s clear that the other candidates don’t particularly like her all that much and while she does have nice moments, her bad moments tend to overshadow her more positive traits. Though I am really eager to see her go up against Sirius. Especially since both of them are fire users and I’m sure Priscilla will most likely provoke Sirius into anger. Not to mention with Liliana acting as support to soothe the emotions of the people around them, they will definitely be giving Sirius a run for her money. I also look forward to seeing Priscilla just go all out on a powerful opponent.

But man, if I can be frustrated at this series for one thing, it has to be what they’ve done to Crusch. I do hope that once they deal with Gluttony that Crusch can finally go back to the powerful queen that I know and love. While her care for others’ wellbeing and the will to continue the fight hasn’t changed, I really don’t like how powerless and docile they’ve made her at times. It’s frustrating seeing how strong of a character she was at the start, only to wind up like this. Though I do hope that it makes way for how great her eventual return will be. Though with how things are currently with her, it doesn’t seem like she’ll be returning to the battlefield any time soon. Seeing her like this is just honestly horrifying. The pulsing of the veins and the noises… Gosh, I’m incredibly squeamish towards these types of things. And while I have personal frustrations about the whole Crusch situation, Felis is probably the one who is hurting the most because of this. He is trying so hard to try and do whatever he can for Crusch and probably feels even more frustrated after witnessing Subaru being the only one who can alleviate Crusch of her plight. Ever since her losing her memories to Gluttony, Felis has probably been going through so much emotional turmoil over not being able to help her. Especially since this has gone on for over a year now. I really hope the old Crusch can come back soon.

Also what in the world is going on with Subaru and his relation to the dragon blood???? How is he okay with it and can even absorb Crusch’s ailment? Hopefully that gets answered in future episodes.

And after all that, just to top it all off, the Astrea family drama is about to get so much worse. Yeah… I kind of had a feeling that the swordsman cultist was Wilhelm’s wife. It was obvious that Wilhelm recognized the swordsman’s techniques and he looked conflicted and sad about it. I think I might have also read a vague spoiler somewhere about his wife possibly coming back to life somewhere so it definitely tracked. Thankfully it seems like Reinhard might not be involved with this sad fight. Especially since he was initially blamed for her death in the first place. I don’t know how he’d react to this. Though I’m sure things are going to get real messy considering his dad is free and most likely will cause a lot of grief and drama with Wilhelm if his first impression this season didn’t already tip us off. But man, this is a fight I’m not looking forward to because I know it’s going to be all sorts of depressing. Not only is Theresia probably not herself and might only react to things on a subconscious level, but I can’t imagine how painful it will be for Wilhelm to most likely have to kill his own wife and have her die again so to speak. Poor Wilhelm can never catch a break.

While all that is happening, Emilia is having to deal with a wedding and a lunatic. The more I watch Regulus, the more garbage of a person he shows himself to be. And while I do have to commend Emilia for the amount of courage to speak up against him, I couldn’t help but be very afraid for everyone in that room. Especially when her words ended up agitating him and then essentially held a gun to everyone’s heads. Initially I was very lost as to why she’d try to talk to him now of all times. Though I think she must have also wanted the other wives to hear what she had to say even if there was little she could do to possibly fend him off if he were to come at her violently or the other wives. So it was definitely a very risky gambit Emilia pulled. But I still have to commend her for being able to speak up on behalf of herself and all of the wives. It’s like she wanted to save the wives not only physically, but emotionally as well. She knows how Regulus treats them is wrong and seems to want to inspire hope for the other wives that they deserve so much better. I literally scoffed at Regulus asking if “she has a problem with him.” I’m like: NO REALLY. Trying to talk to Regulus about this seemed useless considering how delusional he is, so it makes sense that she’d mostly be talking to the wives indirectly. And while I know I’m a broken record for saying this yet again but I LOVE EMILIA. And man does she look absolutely RADIANT in that dress.

And BOY was that door hitting Regulus just made my day. After all the crap he’s spewed, it just felt like absolute justice and well deserved. I cackled so hard XD. Probably my favorite moment in this episode. The fact that Reinhard’s actions always makes sure to hit their target no matter what was used so hilariously in this moment since he didn’t even intend to break down the door. Catching even Regulus off guard who hasn’t sustained a direct hit this entire season. I’m definitely looking forward to how all the different parties take on their respective opponents, even if I have to wait a couple months for them. Though I will say it was very rude for them to leave us hanging when things were about to get really interesting. But alas, see y’all in February!

It’s not Roswaal that wants it restored. Otto said he wants it restored ’cause he doesn’t trust Roswaal, who might have plans he’ll enact based on what he saw before his defeat.

I feel Priscilla cares more than she lets on, and her image is a deliberate attempt to present herself as someone who’s powerful and will wield that power. I also believe Priscilla loves Subaru, which I made lengthy posts about back when Berry covered Re:Zero. Given Priscilla somewhat finished Subaru’s thought by saying she’d be of course come in person, addressing him as “fool” in the process and calling his broadcast ugly, which he had a negative reaction to, she may have been trying to draw out his pride much like she did for Liliana when she poked at her, only Subaru’s issues with self-worth led to the mood turning dicey until she said that she’s fair when assessing results and that as a reward she’d let them include her in their plan.

Liliana’s songs have meaning with her singing a song about a lonely wanderer (herself), age differences in love (regarding Subaru and Beatrice even though they aren’t romantically interested in each other), the Sword Demon’s Love Ballad (when Wilhelm was known to have visited the city), a song about dragon blood, and a song about how awesome life is to ease the mind of the citizens, so it’s hard to believe Liliana randomly decided to sing a love song for no reason but rather was probably inspired to. That’s why I believe the song’s about Priscilla loving Subaru. Priscilla also notably gave Subaru two rewards in short succession. Liliana may have noticed Subaru’s presence lifting Priscilla’s mood during their short time together.

I believe in doing what she did, Priscilla was sizing up Subaru’s manhood and bantering with him. As I’ve long stated, I believe Priscilla saw value in him, to the point she considered him to be a potential lover based on Episode 16 with her saying, “So it seems you really are an insignificant man” after the foot lick test she proposed to Subaru, which is something you say about someone you have high expectations of who ruined the image you had of them.

She notably played with her hair and crossed and uncrossed her legs during that scene while saying Subaru’s desperation corners his ally, benefits an enemy, and causes his camp to lose all control in the process before proposing a situation in which he had to be desperate, which demonstrated that it was a carefully thought out test meant to assess Subaru’s manhood after his embarrassing outburst at the castle.

Priscilla may have said that the group better be grateful for her getting involved, but I believe that behaviour is a mask that possibly hides that she really wants to involved with Subaru in addition to her hating the Witch Cult. With guys such as Heinkel in her camp, it shows that fools such as Subaru may be her type.
