Can you believe it? It’s already almost October! Time freaking flies man! But that’s not all, on September 28th, it will be our 15th Anniversary! Wowwwww!!! It’s crazy to think we’ve been around for that long! I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again: When I first launched this blog, my personal goal was to blog for at least seven years– and look where we are now! Over the course of 15 years, the team has accumulated over 10,000 entries! And that doesn’t even include the double/triple posts! What a feat!

A couple of things to note! Since we’ve moved up the schedule of releasing the Season Preview a week earlier than usual, some air dates are still not confirmed yet, therefore some of them have been left blank!

I’ve also decided to include a new detail! We’re now adding the country of origin label to the ‘source’ material tag! As more and more international series get adapted, I figured this would be a good thing to add going forward!

As I’m sure anyone who has watched the first season has noticed, this show got a complete makeover and they are GORGEOUS~!

I also really hope that somebody’s gonna announce the license for the novels during or right after this is over. This season should be covering the remaining volumes of the series, so I’m really excited for it!

Shadow: After what the anime put me through, I’m not sure if I want to continue covering it. I’ve also fallen out of reading the manga, so there’s also that. But maybe I’ll come back to it when I feel like it. Though it might not be for a while.

Eva: Buckle up everyone, we’re in for an emotional ride this season. I’ve been really looking forward to seeing the upcoming arc animated as it’s among some of my favourites of the series. Similarly to how Shadow has felt in the past two seasons, as a manga reader, the adaption has been sort of a hit and miss for me. I’ve always felt they’ve been trying to make it more serious than it is at times. But this time I hope they live up to my expectations!

Shadow: As a long time player of the game, I’m very interested in seeing how this is adapted. Judging from the trailer, they might be going the manga route where they change who the MC is depending on the “route” they’re taking. So that’ll definitely be interesting. I did really like the Heartslabyul arc so hopefully they adapt it well.

Eva: I’m quite excited for this one! I’m really not a fan of the gameplay so I’ve dropped the game before long, so I’m excited to finally experience the story without it! A bit of a shame it’s only going to be eight episodes though. I suppose if they feel that’s long enough to do the job, it’ll be okay… I hope.

Eva: I’ve loved the manhwa, which I’ve heard deviated a bit from the novel (that I have not read), so I’m actually curious which material they’ll be adapting! I’ve been long craving for this kind of content to be animated, so I’m eating this up!!!!!

Shadow: Read this one a while back and while I enjoyed the first part of it, it got a little too political for my tastes and I don’t really remember much of what happened. Maybe I’ll give it a look when I feel like it.

Shadow: I am going into this warily. After the trainwreck that was the Adventure 01 reboot, I feel myself hesitant to trust another Digimon anime. Maybe this will be the one to be good, but I’ll have to wait and see. Depending on if I vibe with the first ep, I may consider blogging about it. Though we all know what happened with the Adventure 01 reboot…

Eva: Okay this looks kinda wild and a bit freaky and I’m totally here for it! I can’t remember the last time I’ve watched Digimon, and I haven’t even checked the last reboot of Adventure, but this one has certainly sparked my interest!

Eva: AHEM. Okay okay, hear us out! Contrary to what you might expect, somehow, this one just works– and it’s executed exceptionally well. The author has a way of just making this so freaking wholesome and lovable that it’s like who cares if they are beastfolk! They are so cute and endearing, how could you not love them?!

That being said… A heads up for those who are completely unaware: Depending on how they go about this, they may include the smut– though I’d describe it as more of the sugary kind (as far as I’m aware of at the moment). And if you decide that you really like this and you want to check out the prequel (Hana and the Beast Man): Heads up, it takes it to the next level of full blown SPICY NSFW adult content (NOT FOR KIDS!!!!)! So if you’re okay with that, it’s totally worth the read!

Shadow: Coughs There are two wolves within me… But nah, honestly, I can be a bit of a sucker for beast x human stories at times. This being no exception. Though I will say I am SURPRISED this even got adapted considering… things. Especially since the prequel is really raunchy lol. This series also has its moments where I question how they’re going to adapt this lol. But who knows, maybe they’ll tame the spice. They probably would not be able to get away with it with the prequel though XD.

Shadow: When I saw the visual for it, I was like: Hey, those character designs look familiar… OH MY GOSH IT’S LET’S PLAY. I remember being a diligent weekly reader for this series back on webtoon. And while I don’t have the best impression of the series as a whole, I’m still very curious as to how this adaptation will work. Especially given some of the content…. If you know, you know. Though it is a bit of shame that the guys now look like babies compared to how they look in the original webtoon.

Eva: This definitely came as a surprise for me when it was first announced. I’ve read the webtoon and enjoyed at the time, but I’m not wholly sure how this is going to go adaption wise… I kind of wished they were more true to the original character designs, because I’m really not feeling what we got and it sorta clashes with the more mature content that gets touched on in this series, which begs the question, if we’re going to see any of that at all. For that reason, this is probably going to be placed on the back-burner for me, and I’ll let Shadow tell me if it’s worth my time LOL.

Shadow: I believe I first heard of this series from Gigguk on youtube. And considering this is the same creator as Beastars, I’m very curious as to how this compares to their prior work. It seems interesting enough so I was willing to give it a go.

Eva: Oh snap!!!! I remember reading this series years ago when it first launched and I thought it was super cool! But I’m gonna be real with you: The CGI model in preview looks so out of place and rough, it kinda killed my hype… but I’ll give it a chance, because I enjoyed the manga. That being said: I’m notoriously picky over the quality of CGI, and often times it’ll dictate whether I stick around or not, regardless how good the show is.

Eva: This is one of my wild cards for this season. Truth to be told, I’m not exactly taken with the art style, and the premise is… certainly something given how clumsy Yano is. I’ll check out the first episode and see if it clicks with me.

Overall Thoughts

Eva: Holy— it’s feels like it’s been a long while since I’ve listed so many shows since we’ve started this format. But what can I say? This season a packed with new titles and sequels I’ve LONG been waiting for it! Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi S2, holy shit- I’VE NEVER GIVEN UP HOPE AND IT FINALLY HAPPENING. This is a guaranteed coverage, I’m not missing this. Other shows I’m really excited about potentially picking are: A Star Brighter Than the Sun, Dusk Beyond the End of the World, and of course, Who Made me A Princess!

Luckily this season’s shows are more spread out! So as long as my schedule allows it, I really want to try and cover more because there’s too many titles I’m looking forward to! It’d be a shame to pass up on them!

Shadow: Considering I will still be covering Gachiakuta, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to have time to blog about another series. Though there is definitely a handful this coming season that seems interesting, such as Kimi to Koete Koi ni Naru, Let’s Play: Quest-darake no My Life, Sanda and Twisted-Wonderland. Also a little interested in Digimon, but I’m hesitant in that department. The new season seems fairly promising so hopefully it’ll be a good one.
