GACHIAKUTA CANNOT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS pt 2. This week has been an AWFUL week of cliffhangers for literally everything I’ve been watching and Gachiakuta is no exception because UGH. Amo scares the literal crap out of me. I had a feeling she would considering how she presented herself in the previous episode. While we didn’t get a lot from her at that point, you could tell something was off. And I was right to be suspicious because girl is mentally unstable to the max. As soon as she told everyone to take off their masks, in my head I was like: Absolutely not, I am keeping them on just in case. AND SURE ENOUGH. But we’ll get to that later. Even when she asked them what they think about crushes, the look on her face made me super uneasy.

As soon as Enjin started challenging her, you could tell things were about to go south real fast. Especially since him saying he just wanted her for information sent her down an unhinged spiral. The music, the voice acting, the shots, everything about this scene made me so uncomfortable. Especially when she just broke down screaming, the string noises… shudders That’s literally the sound of horror movies and it was way too effective to show how scary the situation was getting. I understand that Enjin didn’t want to play along with this unhinged banter, but he really could have used more tact in this situation. Especially since it got him shot in the back. This definitely wasn’t a good look for Enjin considering he just kept saying things to trigger her more. Like, dude, why are you riling her up? You don’t even know what she’s capable of. And after that breakdown, she immediately goes back to calmly asking about what they look for in a crush. By that point I was more than unsettled. Characters that can go from crazy to level-headed in a heartbeat legit scares me.

But the biggest shock to me was that it was Delmon who shot Enjin. We then learn about his ability to inflate anything with water from withing, which is honestly pretty terrifying if used on people. Which was probably why Enjin was throwing up water in the previous episode. Thankfully it seems like Enjin wasn’t hit by too big of a stream, but it was enough where it knocked him out. Since the human body is made with 60% water, to expand that even further until they burst is a horrifying visualization. Though it’s unclear if the water needs to hit you directly from the hose or if you’re affected by being splashed by the residue. At first I thought he was being controlled, but then we are told that he’s actually sane and I’m like HUH??? Not to mention they made it seem like Delmon and Amo actually knew each other beforehand and then I started thinking he was a mole or something. But then we learn that Amo’s special ability was essentially putting people under the influence of her “smell” that she kicks up using her boots to cause them to see her as someone they love or loved. So Delmon, while he was acting as himself, was under the influence of her illusions believing he was protecting someone he cares for dearly from enemies. I’m curious as to who he is visualizing and hopefully we get to learn what he’s seeing.

Despite Rudo being on the road to healing from his traumas from living in the Sphere, this episode essentially throws him back several steps because this poor boy cannot catch a break. He’s essentially forced to come face-to-face by the people who threw him away without a second thought. And man, I was NOT EXPECTING them to revisit Rudo’s feelings towards Chiwa. For some reason I thought that first episode was the end of her and we wouldn’t delve that deeply into her again until they possibly meet up again when Rudo makes it back into the Sphere. Granted it does make sense to unpack Rudo’s feelings towards her sooner rather than later since this was a pretty crucial betrayal for him. It’s honestly really sad to see how much this is eating up Rudo from the inside. On one hand, he for sure hates her for turning her back on him when he needed her most, but that also doesn’t fully negate the good and happy times they had together. Deep down, Rudo still cares for her enough for him to want to protect her when he things she is getting harassed by the Apostles. And here I thought that because he hated her, he wouldn’t do anything to protect her. Though it is understandable that even though you dislike someone, most likely wouldn’t want to wish for them to be hurt or harassed, especially if they were close friend at one point.

It’ll definitely be interesting to see how the two more logical characters will react in this situation since Tamsy and Zanka are seemingly the only ones that were able to put their masks on before being affected by Amo’s power aside from Gris. While the dude managed to get his mask on, I don’t know how effective he’ll be in this situation with a bunch of Givers under the influence. I’m also really curious as to what the others are visualizing and who their most loved ones are since that would definitely give us some interesting insight on them as characters since we know little to nothing about anyone else’s backgrounds.

But man, the way the left us on that cliffhanger felt illegal. I have so many questions (which is nothing new with this series) and I hope the next one delivers. Especially since Amo is also using boots of the same series as Rudo’s gloves. Where did she get them? Is she working with anyone? Too many questions and too little answers…
