OH SHIT. YOU KNOW I HAD VERY BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD FEELING THAT KOTOURA’S MOTHER WAS GOING TO EVENTUALLY SHOW UP THIS EPISODE OR NEXT WEEK MAINLY BECAUSE SHE EXPIRENCED THAT MEMORY! I DIDN’T THINK IT’D BE THIS SOON- BUT SEEING THE FIREWORKS AND ALL, HOLY SHIT. GOD. OH GOD. BRACE YOURSELVES PEOPLE, THE LONG AWAITED STORM IS BREWING.
Now it is only matter of time before Kotoura encounters her mother again- and her mother, looks no better than how we last saw her. I can see the head priest trying to show that Kotoura had finally made friends and such, but the mother… She still blames her daughter for everything. Worse case scenario, she might even go as far to attempt sabotaging Kotoura’s happiness, as her revenge since she firmly believes that Kotoura is the blame for her misfortune and her own unhappiness in life.
The episode was sweet, and I really loved that Kotoura’s grandfather was trying his best to make it special for her and her friends despite the fact Kotoura just wanted to experience a normal summer vacation. I continue to be amused by the humor of having Moritani as a third wheel and literally having to work for it. Despite the fact that I have said I hated her, she is- undoubtedly growing on me. I also like that she isn’t- for now, boldly pursuing Manabe and on the other hand, is serving more of a competition for Manabe since Kotoura turns to her to cling on or defends first before Manabe.
On the other hand, while everyone else thought the reasons why Kotoura was “hissing” at Manabe (which was cute) was because of his perverted thoughts, we were shown to see that Kotoura was in fact actually just expirencing jealousy. Not bitter ones, just “Manabe you idiot!”. Then when Kotoura ended up dragged out to sea by being caught by the currents, they had their chance together while Manabe was going everything in his power to NOT think perverted thoughts and cling onto her (kudos to you man).
But seriously, FOR GOODNESS SAKES, JUST KISS ALREADY!!!!!! Kotoura’s Grandpa is even rooting for you!
Overall good episode! The ending was switched up again, I like how it reflects on what happened within the episode- it’s really cute. We’re now halfway through the series, it’s just a matter of time before the storm arrives.
