So after that emotional rollar coaster of a last episode there is just no letting up, while not as in your face. Oh god, i’m sobbing all over my keyboard sad, it’s more a suttle, “I feel so bad for Shinchi.” kind of sadness. The episode picks up where the last one left off, with him stabbed through the heart and dying.

Migi to the rescue, he fuses himself with Shinichi’s heart and heals up the wound and Migi is just amazing alright? Totally amazing, not only does he heal up Shinichi but gets water and sugar and keeps him going through other means. It’s just fantastic.

So when Shinichi wakes up, he realizes that first off, he’s alive and second off. That the wound and the blood and everything, mean what happened was not just a dream. Also, he looks strange without glasses. I mean, I know the original manga design didn’t have glasses but i’ve gotten so used to them at this point that it’s just stange to see him without them. I don’t know if i’m the only one feeling that way or not.
Also, props the animation for managing with just some shading and a few lines in his face for making him look and feel half dead. He wandering around in this state for half of the episode and all I can think is, “My god, he looks awful.” It was such a nice thing to make him really feel worn down by all of this.

He gets a call from the hospital where his Dad is alive and heads out to see him, bring him clothes and such.  Along the way he runs into this girl, who later turns out to be the daughter of the hotel Shinichi is staying in. I feel like she’s going to be more important then she seems right now.

So he swings by the hospital and betwee what the doctors have been telling him and his own denile, Shinichi’s dad won’t hear any of what Shinichi has to say about his mother. Eventually Shinichi drops it despite knowing that one day they’re going to have to talk about what really happened.
So yeah, he goes and stays at a small hotel closer to the hospital so Migi will be able to sense the others of his kind that get close by. This is where Migi drops the bomb on Shinichi that there is a whole four hour a day period where Migi is basically dead to the world. He can’t feel if Shinichi is in danger or if another one of his kind are around.

Honestly, it’s really here that you see the real changes in Shinichi from the way he was before getting stabbed. He went through a lot of emotional, physical and mental changes this episode. We’ve drawn the puberty comparisons before, in a sense in this episode you could see him really becoming an adult. It’s a wonderful change. The second day he goes to visit his Dad, he sits outside so he can keep an eye out himself so Migi can rest.

The girl from the train and the hotel comes up to him and starts talking to him, at the same time Migi informs him that he can sense one of his kind. 300 meters away, at the beach. Shinichi asks the girl how to get to the beach and before she can even finish he runs off. She follows him because she’s not done giving him instructions on how to get there.
As they reach a huge sea wall, she tries to tell him how to go around but he just jumps over the thing.
The scary part is, he’s so set on this one thing. Killing the monster that took away his mother that he isn’t even noticing how inhuman he is becoming himself.

blinded by rage.
blinded by rage.

He goes to confront the parasite and the episode ends, but just from the two small glimpses we got of the person. It’s not his Mom, he’s totally jumping the gun. However…

That’s my entire point, he’s so hyper focused on killing that one parasite that took his mother away it’s like he’s walking through life with blinders on. He doesn’t notice, he probably doesn’t even care. He hasn’t noticed that he’s running at an inhuman speed, or jumped over something that no human should be able too. He’s even stopped viewing Migi as his enemy. it’s just amazing how one episode can showcase so many changes.

I can’t wait for the next episode, is he going to kill this random parasite? What about the girl? What does she think now that she’s seen him perform a inhuman feat? What are the repercussions of seeing the world through rage blinders?

Most importantly, when is anyone in the show going to comment on him not wearing his glasses?! Like, I know his Dad is out of it and the first thing he’s gonna ask isn’t why his son isn’t wearing his glasses but like there was that small part of the episode where he talks to his ‘totally-not-girlfriend’ and she doesn’t say a thing about it. Of course, this could be because she was worried about him and he did kind of look like he’d died and come back to life but it’s going to bother me until someone brings it up.
