Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders S2 Episode 14: The Guardian of Hell, Pet Shop, Part I

Hirohiko Araki seriously hates dogs. TW for extreme animal violence, but if you’ve been following this series this long, then this isn’t much of a surprise.

Or maybe he just hates animals in general? I mean was it really necessary for Pet Shop to eat a piece of the dog RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE KID? And thank god it was censored because I don’t want to see that, thank you very much…even though it was pretty obvious he ripped out the eye. Dear god…I remember when I first started watching Jojo’s, a friend of mine warned me that Dio would burn Jonathan’s dog in the first episode, and I didn’t think it was going to get worse than that. Well, obviously I was wrong, and now I’ve been getting used to this.

Well! Iggy finally has his time to shine. And he talks! Okay well not really. What seems like he’s talking, he’s actually just barking in human ears. And as we already knew, Iggy just does not give a crap. About Dio, about Joseph, and just hates that he was sent to Egypt against his will. Well, what a coincidence that he would stumble upon the very building that Dio is hiding in, even though he’s the one that leasts cares about him. He scares off some big dogs, and those dogs see a bird’s shadow underneath a gate. The two dogs run over, and like all dogs do, start barking and pawing at the bird. The next thing we know, a large icicle pierces the heads of the two dogs, sending their heads flying. And the bodies somehow get pulled through all bloody, probably in pieces or something. God this part…was so gross. A kid is looking for his dogs, which just so happened to be those two that were just mutilated, and he screams and uuuhghughskjdf. Okay, enough. Our stand user is a bird named Pet Shop, with the Stand, Horus.

After a situation with a beggar-not-beggar, Avdol sends a man off to find the building from their photograph. The man finds it easily in just two hours, and he has his car parked right outside of the gate where Iggy and Pet Shop are, and Pet Shop sends a huge block of ice at the man, and he’s killed immediately. There’s been a lot of crazy deaths in this show, and they certainly don’t hold back on the brutality, but for some reason all the deaths in this episode had me dropping my jaw and covering my mouth because GODDAMN THAT WAS BRUTAL.

So Iggy tries playing stupid, but when the kid is about to get mauled by Pet Shop, Iggy jumps in and protects him. Even though he mentioned before that he wouldn’t care about a human child getting killed. Well haha you’re a liar ya damn dog. The rest of the episode is a chase between these two. Iggy tries to get away and escape, but Pet Shop has great eyes and won’t go down until he kills Iggy. Even when Iggy gives him a chance to live after landing a good strike on him, Pet Shop won’t give up. The bird shows his Stand’s true form, and Iggy is running off again, and we end there.

ANIMAL FIGHT. I had been wanting for Iggy to get his own damn episode to show off what he’s got, and this episode certainly was unique. Iggy’s gonna have no choice but to kill Pet Shop if he wants to be in peace. We learned a little about Iggy, though I guess we could have guessed from the beginning what he felt about everything. Can’t wait to see how Iggy ends this. And even though Avdol’s buddy was killed, Iggy knows where Dio’s hideout is, and when things are done with Pet Shop, they can finally find Dio and kick his ass. Until next week then. I just hope no more animals are going to get chopped up and sliced, I mean there needs to be an end to this. THERE NEEDS TO BE AN END.
