“Behind his steely exterior, I feel his fragile self.”

Damn girl me too.

Nothing’s more fragile than wearing a pink apron while diligently cleaning the toilet for your master.
[HorribleSubs] One-Punch Man - 06 [1080p].mkv0013Very slow episode this time, so no it wasn’t the episode that I was expecting but it was still a fun one. We’re seeing more of the heroes and we had some fun with Saitama in the beginning, though he wasn’t having any fun. As a C Class hero, Saitama needs to constantly be fighting to keep his place as a hero. Since there are so many heroes in the C class, Saitama needs to hustle. And he needs to do it in a week, to which he didn’t even know about and spent that whole time watching TV and reading manga and on the very last day of that week he ran around the city trying to find something. Saitama didn’t do anything because there haven’t been big monster attacks lately, but C class heroes because of their low status deal with petty robberies, purse snatchers, and the like. Y’know, the small stuff. To which Saitama couldn’t even find and he was about to have a breakdown until Sonic appeared looking for a rematch. Saitama ignored him, which pisses off Sonic and he forces another attack on him with his sword, Saitama munching on it. Then we meet one of the C-class heroes in the top 10, Tank Top Tiger. Because he wears a tank top with a tiger print. Also look at his hair. Anyway a girl sent Tiger to fight Saitama as Saitama was scaring the city with his panicked faces. Then things happen where Sonic explodes Tank Top Tiger and Saitama karate chops Sonic’s neck, which was hilarious. And in the end Saitama’s rank rises a little.

The other bit of the episode was the investigation of a rumor in Z City’s abandoned area (where Saitama and Genos live) where a powerful monster is supposed to be. The Association sent two A-class heroes, Golden Ball and Spring Mustachio. They have a run-in with a seaweed monster and have a lot of trouble with it, Mustachio calling for reinforcements before he passes out. It’s then that Saitama comes at the moment and easily defeats the monster. When the hero reinforcements arrive long after they’re appalled at the sight they see, a giant arc of debris of course caused by Saitama but mistaken to be by the monster. Poor Saitama…not getting the recognition that he deserves. Also he took the konbu from the monster and ate it because why not. Even though that’s kinda gross. Apparently it’s good for hair growth according to Genos. And really that’s what the episode was. Genos has a bit of a fanclub going on, even though he hasn’t done anything and Saitama gets real jealous dismissive Genos is about getting so much attention and comments about his appearance and all that. We got a look into some of the heroes and yes their names are ridiculous but it’s great. And we got introduced to two beautiful ladies early, just like Sweet Mask! 😀

Didn’t I tell ya! Madhouse knows what we want =D I’m getting hopeful about the OVA coming up in December, maybe it’ll cover the special chapter featuring Fubuki too.

This one was really more of a transitional episode, so I don’t have much to say except that it was a good adaption as usual, with a few tweaks and much appreciated additions that didn’t feel out of place. I got a real kick out of seeing Saitama nom Sonic’s sword as well.

Very excited for Serious Sunday this week XD

This is what I usually call a build-up episode. It explains the background world so well along with those C-rank hero weekly requirements and the rumors, and at the same time, it sets the atmosphere of what to expect with the anime (manga readers know what the capture of Sonic entails in the future). Yes, it’s a slow episode, because that’s what it needs to be. I personally think this episode is quite important, and seeing it done so well makes me respect Madhouse even more.

One Punch Man is a seinen series, so while it looks like a goofy parody mixed with awesome actions in the surface, it has depth. It requires some brain exercise, and it’s layered. It can be enjoyed for the entertainment purpose only, but when we try to think deeper for a purpose of this line or that act, that’s where its true beauty starts to bloom.

I’m hoping there will be a spin-off starring Fubuki and her sister.

    YUUKI AOI AS TATSUMAKI HNNNNNNNGGGG

    CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY

Also I was unsure of Hayami Saori as Fubooty, but I guess she’s not bad?

I didn’t even recognize Saori Hayami as Fubuki so I was really surprised! I think she sounds pretty great. Really I think everyone sounds fine except maybe Sonic and I’m pretty happy with the casting. So glad Tatsumaki and Fubuki made early appearances too. :3c

Hmmm…. I thought Genos said the opposite about the konbu as ‘not’ having any scientific evidence that supports hair growth (and making Saitama rather angry out of embarrassment in the process), which in a way makes it funnier.
