As expected, Kacchan was always super confident as a kid and when his quirk manifested itself he slowly took the wrong path. It is quite sad to see that nobody told Kacchan to chill when he vlcsnap-2016-05-15-14h13m22s927was a kid. Everyone, even the adults were idolizing him, saying that he was amazing and super duper cool so of course the kid was going to believe it and now, he has a serious superiority complex.  Superiority and inferiority complex at the same time. I could also try to link Bakugou’s desire of recognition to the Hegelian dialectique with the Master and Slave theory but that would be going wayyyy to far and I don’t know enough about Hegel’s works to speculate about it.
Anyway, Bakugou had an awesome quirk and used it to reassure himself somehow by putting Deku, the least amazing person in his opinion, down. But even in those times Deku was concerned and wiling to help Bakugou, the dude that he was idolizing maybe too much. Bakugou might have interpreted Deku’s concern the wrong way and thought that Deku wasn’t seeing him as an amazing person, thinking that he needed his support. Since Bakugou thinks he’s some kind of god that can do anything, he misunderstood Deku’s genuine feelings and thought Deku was underestimating him. Of course, Bakugou’s attitude is not excusable but heh, that kid’s head is so full of bullshit now, I really wonder if he can be saved.

vlcsnap-2016-05-15-13h57m22s432Continuing their fight, Deku shows again that all those years studying heroes are finally paying off. He can anticipate Kacchan’s moves and is able to avoid them. He fights effectively against Kacchan, without using his quirk. Like a random dude from the class said, Kacchan is the one that ranked first in the entrance exam so Deku, not losing against him without using his quirk, impresses everyone. This plus the fact that Kacchan thinks Deku tricked him, hiding his quirk all those years, is really pissing Kacchan off. And when I say pissing off, I mean that he’s reeeeaaaaally angry. It seems logic to me that Kacchan who always thought so high of himself would be pretty pissed to learn that Deku, the one that was always in his shadow could outdo him.

At some point Bakugou gets really pissed and uses his most powerful attack on Deku. However, as All Might mentioned it, even if Bakugou is going full berserk mode, he’s still aware that all of this is an exercice and that he would be in trouble if he hurt Deku too much.  Bakugou even accepts the teacher’s order to stop using this attack and calms down a bit… I guess?

What looked like the final fight of Deku against Kacchan was actually  diversion of Deku to assure the win. Deku uses his quirk to blow the ceiling, allowing Uraraka  to secure the weapon. However, Deku does take the full attack from Bakugou on his left arm and sees his right arm being destroyed by his quirk. But he stands straight, faces Bakugou and tells him some good damn awesome punchlines. THAT’S MY BOY!

Overall this episode was like an explosion of emotions. The complicated relationship of Deku and Bakugou was well described and Bakougou seems to have realized something here, which is of course, going to lead to more character development . The music was also epic  and combined with the perfect descriptionof the team work of Uraraka and Deku, I can say that this episode was really great. So far Boku no hero Academia isn’t disappointing at all and is fulfilling his promises.
On a side note, TODOROKI TAAAAAAALLLKED. FINALLY! But heh, I don’t know, I think someone’s else than Yuki Kaiji could have been doing a good job too. I just think that they should give mores chances to young seiyus rather than giving every roles to Yuki Kaiji all the time.

You’re right! I forgot to mention it. I guess he is really popular too 🙂
He has a really deep voice. Quite fits the character in my opinion.
Bakugou’s arrogance and general lack of empathy to anyone else comes back to bite him in a big way in the current manga arc in which he’s kidnapped by the Big Bad of the series in an attempt at turning him into a villain. Both the pro-Hero teachers and students tried to rescue him. However, he literally have ONE friend (Kirishima), the only one that didn’t criticise him and actually went out of his way to be friendly. All of the other students are either beneath him, personal enemy (Deku) or tried to correct his way, aka Lida. That lone friend Kirishima is the only one he’s willing to take a helping hand from.
You’re referring to chapter 90 right? More than being friendly I think Bakugou accepted Kirishima’s help because, like Deku said, they see each other as equals. Which is the issue that Bakuogu is struggling the most with giving the fact that he has this deep superiority complex. However, in the last page of the chapter Bakugou does say ” you idiots” meaning maybe that he knows that Kirishima isn’t he only one supporting him and wanting to save him, acknowledging that people can care about him.
So maybe from now on, Bakugou is going to change a bit 🙂

I loved how absolutely CRAZY with anger Bakugou’s seiyuu made him sound in the second half of this epsidoe. And yet he wasn’t crazy, as Bakugou was still thinking quite rationally…you know, asides from his raging superiority complex. He’s a complete and utter ass, but I can’t say he’s not an interesting ass >.>

Sweet darling Deku continues to be great this week, even stepping up his game by daring to admit he IS trying to compete with Bakugo, and aiming to surpass him. A lovely bit of character development.

And WAITAMINUTE. HOLD THE PHONES. Is that a bird? Is there a motherloving BIRD in their class!?

Bakugo’s seiyuu is doing an amazing job indeed!
I do love Bakugou as a character because I think he’s one of the most Bnha interesting characters. There’s something about him that I can’t understand and even if I usually dislike that type of character I cannot bring myself to hate him. Though, I would probably hate him if I meet him in real life è_é

It’s quite sad this motherloving bird won’t get that many screen time though :/
