Just when the people of Winderemere thought the war has finally come to an end, Roid announces they will extend their mission to crush the core of the UN Government, and according to the King Gramia’s will they will keep expanding the Starwind sector and defeat the UN Government and hey will then establish the great galactic civilization.

Macross Delta Ep 15 Img 0014As I mentioned last week, I am seriously suspicious about this claim. Although Roid has shown us his “softer” side, so to speak, in regards of Heinz’s heath, over the course of the past few episodes it feels more as though he simply trying to protect Heinz’s health for the sake of his own self-interest. I say this after hearing how of the peace-treaty negotiations were going, but then again- when it comes to negotiating with the UN Government, eh- it’s fair to remain skeptical about them as well, especially since they too are looking for a way to exploit the ruins in a way Winderemere appears to be unaware of. Either way, it looks like so as long as the fight to determine the “rightful Heirs of Protoculture”.

With the coronation of Prince Heinz on display all across the Galaxy, for the first time, everyone is able to see just who the infamous Wind Singer is. His coronation took place in an arena, with eerily similar structures that Mikumo had seen in her dream. Macross Delta Ep 15 Img 0010Understandably the similarities are giving her quite a spook, she doesn’t understand why she is having these dreams, nor why they are familiar. There has been a thought in my head of how perhaps, Mikumo has Winderemere blood in her. Unlike the others (with the exception of Freyja), it appears she too can sense the wind in ways others cannot. Of course if she were a Windermere descendant, then she would have a rune right? Well I am guessing if she has any ties whatsoever, she would have mixed blood of a sort… And let me stress this is purely speculation on my part. But there is probably a greater possibility she has unique ties to Protoculture (actually it would be hilarious if she were the rightful heir of Protoculture).

Macross Delta Ep 15 Img 0031But before we dive into Mikumo’s history, we are about to dive head first into Hayate’s first! After rescuing a lone survivor from the remains of NUNs wreckage, the man asked for the name the one who saved him, which was Hayate. However the second he learns Hayate’s surname is Immelmann, he immediately become uneasy and uncomfortable of his connection with Wright Immelmann (Hayate’s father) and turns to Arad asking, why the heck is he with the son of that man? Whoa… I wonder what kind of trouble went down… Anyhow, it looks like Hayate may be learning something unpleasant or equally shocking about his father next week. Welp, this will be interesting.

Macross Delta Ep 15 Img 0008Right on timely fashion with the coronation, Keith has finally recovered, but he did not make it out of the fight unscathed. He lost sight in one of his eyes, now wearing a fancy eye-patch over it. But even with the lost of eyesight in one eye, his rune is now stronger than ever, noticeably resonating with Heinz when he sings. Speaking of the two brothers, it was nice to finally get a slightly better understanding of their relationship. Turns out (though I had my suspicions due to Heinz being first in line to inherit the throne) that Keith is a son of a concubine, so no matter how well he performed, it was unlikely he was going to ever get the throne. Among the people of Winderemere Kingdom, some believe Keith became a knight to protect his brother. It also could be that Keith is kind of like Hayate in a sense, he is happy as long as he can spread his wings and fly. However, it also appears Keith never seemed to have cared for Heinz as much as Heinz cared for him. Before he was crowned as their new King, Heinz had asked him once last time, if they could work together as brothers, but Keith insisted to keep his distance and be no more than a knight, making this his last time Heinz will address him as his brother.

Macross Delta Ep 15 Img 0001It was nice to finally be given a bit of a glimpse into the Aerial Knights’ lives and how the Dimensional Weapon attack had turned their white wings black. Cassmin confesses how he is ashamed they had to resort to using the Var to gain leverage in the war, and considers the conduct befitting of knights. They also had a discussion in regards of time and life. Theo had vowed to himself to forget his family until the war was over, so it was an understatement how he was quite ticked off with the fact Roid had extended their mission. Earlier Cassmin had strongly advised him to not wait, and see his family because there is no telling when they may die. We also were able to get a better understanding of why Bogue harbored such a deep grugde towards the NUNS and Earthlings in general. His entire family was wiped out from the Dimensional Dimension attack.

We got a new OP this week, but honesty… I didn’t like it. The song felt a bit bland to me. The new ED (which aired last week) appealed to me a lot more, and I was quite happy to hear it by the end of the episode.

I suggest you read Macross Delta: Kuroki Tsubasa no Shiro Kishi. It is a prequel manga focused on Roid and Keith (and the rest of the Aerial Knights) when they were younger. There is only 3 chapters because it is a monthly manga but it has repeatedly shown that Keith had a very good and caring relationship with Heinz when the latter was an infant. Keith even promised Heinz’s mother he would protect him as his older brother.

If that’s the case, it is a shame they aren’t showing it very well in the show, because not everyone reads/knows about the prequel manga (such as myself). Thanks for the tip, I’ll take a look at it. 🙂
