Seasonal Updates

Man, can’t believe 2024 is already upon us! This season it’ll just be me (Eva) picking up some new Winter 2024 Anime Titles. This is mainly because the others aren’t finding any shows of interest this season, whereas I see a handful of sequels and adaptions I’ve been anticipating for a while now!

So in the mean time, Shadow will be focusing on getting Attack on Titan finale out. And for sanity sake: since there’s so  much to talk about, she’ll plans to break it up into multiple posts and will be releasing that throughout the winter season.

For those wondering about Quietcupcake’s status: She needed to take the Fall season off at the last minute due to settling into a new job (congrats!) and preparing for her long trip. With that new hectic schedule, there just wasn’t any time to blog. So with that combined with the expected jetlag from the trip, it has been decided it’d be best for her to take it easy this season.

As for Berry she got some more game reviews in the pipeline, so please look forward to them once they are ready to go!

Eva: A Sign of Affection is such a sweet and endearing series so I’m really happy to see it get an adaption! It is also one that I relate to a lot, which is why I’d really like to cover it if I could. But I’m not sure if it’s one I’d be able to cover on a weekly basis, so we’ll see if it clicks with me when it comes to writing about it. Eva: Wow it’s lonnnng time since I’ve last checked out Doctor Elise. I don’t recall ever actually finish reading it to the point, nor did I get very far with it, but I can’t remember why. I’ll give this a whirl, but frankly speaking the odds seems very slim as anything I have yet to actually finish watching any webtoon Crunchyroll has adapted so far because it’s just not doing it for me. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ We shall see how this one pans out…

7th Time Loop: The Villainess
JP TITLE | ROMANJI

To make her extravagant dreams come true, she has to marry the prince who killed her in one of her previous lives! It’s going to take every one of the skills she’s honed over multiple lifetimes to accomplish this goal!

Eva: This is another one I’ve read a long time back was a few chapters of the manga adaption. It must’ve been relatively new at the time because but didn’t get far enough of it to really form an opinion whether I liked it or not, nor do I even remember much of it. I actually have considered picking up the novel, though weirdly I haven’t I have to wait for the next sale… I missed the last one… [SIGH] Still not over that. With that in mind, it is a series I am willing to revisit and see how it pans out, so this is probably my biggest wild card for potential pick up for this season.

But I’m not gonna lie: I have a lot of a mixed feelings about the way they are coloring the hair in this series. It’s kinda weird, I’m not quite sure how to describe what I think of it. I suspect I’ll get used to it. Probably.

Possibility of Blogging: 50% – Will depend on whether the Premiere entices me to write an entry about it.

Wonderful Precure
わんだふるぷりきゅあ!

Premiere: TBA, 2024
Genre: Fantasy, Mahou Shoujo
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis: The 21st instalment in the Precure series.

Eva: Hmmm the title drop seems to indicate involving animals of the likes of Dogs and Cats…. Sounds cute and all, but lately I’ve found Precure been hard to write about because it’s a big time investment and the writing isn’t vibing with me like it used to. That said as always I’m not opposed to at least doing a First Impression, and maybe a couple of episodes to see if it vibes me with. With that said, I am seriously considered taking a break from it this year, so we’ll see whether the premiere will make me change my mind about it or not.

Overall Thoughts

Eva: It’s a little weird and lonesome being the only one in the preview this time hahahahaha! Well I knew it’d happen sooner or later. It takes me back to when I first dabbled into blogging anime (2008) when I had done all my seasonal previews solo. I’m actually in the mood to pick up a couple of titles this season, but whether they click with me or clash with the schedule will be what it comes down to.

Among my pick-ups, I will be continuing my coverage of The Apothecary Diaries, as that is a given. JakuChara Tomozaki-kun S2 is the next one I’m pretty confident I’ll be picking up. I loved the first season so much that I’ve even picked up the books though I have neglected to read beyond volume 2 despite having up to volume 9– oops, stuck in the backlog.  So I’ll be going in blind yet again thanks to my own doing lol. A Sign of Affection is also in my top contention of priorities this season, but we’ll see whether this is bloggable for me. It might be something I’ll consider covering on a biweekly basis if I find there’s not enough to talk about to pump out weekly entries. I am quite fond of it, I’d like to keep my options open.

Next up are the toss-ups. Whether I will cover Metallic Rouge will really come down to whether it’s going to be a gory one or not. I love sci-fi, but we’ll see whether it vibes with me, otherwise I definitely plan to watch it! 7th Time Loop, I will confess is probably my biggest toss-up because I’m intrigued and don’t really remember much of anything. We’ll see how the first episode goes, and if it’s enough to motivate me to write a First Impression, then I’ll be giving it three episodes to see if I want to stick to covering it. As for Wonderful Precure well… we’ll see how that one goes. As I mentioned earlier, I don’t really see myself covering it this season beyond the first episode. And lastly: I don’t have any intentions of trying to cover Doctor Elise and The Demon Prince of Momochi House, those two are just titles I know I’ll stick to watching if I end up enjoying them.

Anyways I’m glad there’s at least a handful of titles that perked my interest since season, and I am absolutely delighted to see it really does look like we’re entering a shoujo renaissance BECAUSE BOY, WE WAITED SO LONG FOR IT TO HAPPEN!!!! So while they may not all be of my interest, I hope for those who love the originals that they will be good adaptions!

Which titles are you looking forward to most this season? Any hidden gems of interest? Let me know in the comments below!

Haven’t had the chance to go through the entire winter line-up yet… I’m finishing up my stay in hell from finals.

Honestly PreCure isn’t vibing with me either- I’ve completely skipped this season and next season isn’t catching my interest.

I didn’t realize how much I’ve missed a good shoujo anime until the Apothecary Diaries haha🤣

Best of luck on your finals!!!! You can do it!!!

God, I miss having a good shoujo/josei series to watch, which is why I’m so happy we’re starting to see more of them. Hopefully the adaptions do them justice!
