In which Haruka thinks everyone is drunk.

Eva’s First Impression

I am sure there were at least some people who were caught off guard to see the Quartet Night open up the third season of Uta no Prince-sama! I can tell you I certainly was and I wasn’t too keen about it. Up to this point, Utapri more or less has been consistent with how they kick off their premieres, pumping the audience up with the fun songs and dances. Aside from the opener, this season’s premiere was no exception when it came down to spending 95% of the episode solely re-introducing the characters, only this time- the boys boldly flirting with the most cheesy pick up lines you can imagine.

And the Award goes to Shou, for the Least Cheesy Scene of the Episode!

The most natural one of them all was Shou, who burst out with, “I LOVE YOU!” from a script of the movie he was reciting. He then proceeded to act out his love scene in his script with Haruka, while we know he has feelings for her (because everyone does at this point), it at least felt far more natural and cringe-worthy (there were a few) as we have seen from some of the others.

So. FREAKING. CUTE!

Tokiya (my bias) also had a more or less natural reaction, but then he followed it up with a super cheesy line, “Don’t bump into anyone but me”. (FFF— DAMNIT TOKIYA, THAT IS ILLEGAL! YOU CAN’T SAY IT LIKE THAT.)! With all the cheese, I was quite frankly concerned about breaking my desk because I have the tendency to smack my desk when I’m being overwhelmed with corny lines or if I end up laughing too hard, oh and there were several occasions where I found myself trying not to fall off my chair, I can’t handle this much cheese. Damn you Utapri and your corny pick up lines! In fact, I am not a fan of them at all, but they were still killing me today.

That being said, by the end of the episode, we see Shining making a big announcement about the Super Star Sports Event. He assigns Haruka to be compose a song for Quartet Night who have been chosen to perform at the event, which is basically a World Debut. It wasn’t until Cecil asked his fellow STARISH members of when will it be their turn that set off the gears in their heads and dragged Haruka back to Shining’s office and request him to allow them to perform at the event too.
HOWEVER, as expected with Shining, it is never that simple. He isn’t satisfied with STARISH’s motivation and tells them that it’s all about Revolution. By that I am assume he wants them to revolutionize themselves in some way, which makes more or less sense based off what we have seen for the past two seasons. STARISH have been more or less the same, with their Maji Love 1000% & Maji Love 2000%. I am curious to see what would change and am partially wondering if their love for Haruka will be part of it. We already know the fundamental rules, relationships are forbidden. That’s why everyone has been so careful from blurting out their confessions. Fortunately for them, those who simply don’t care about the rules or accidentally have a slip up, it completely flies over Haruka’s oblivious head. However today, Haruka shown us she is catching on. She knows there is something weird going on with the boys, they aren’t acting like their usual selves she is familiar with. So it makes me curious to see whether or not love will blossom this season, especially based off the romantic setting they had kicked off the show with.

In the end, we did get out beloved traditional STARISH ED theme, except there was one modern change.
They made some of the dancing sequence in CGI.
Okay, so it’s not the end of the world, but it is still a bit disappointing. On the brighter note: it’s certainly not the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen- in fact it’s pretty well done, if I do say so myself. On the other hand the song, it didn’t connect to me like the previous ones did. Usually it hypes me up right away and I get right into it, but this time that wasn’t the case. Perhaps it was because I had different expectations? Maybe, but it’s still a nice song, I am sure it will grow on me as time passes.

Overall I am curious to see what they will be dishing out in our third season of Uta no Prince-sama. I am sure a lot of us weren’t expecting a third season to happen until it was announced. Regardless we will take all the Utapri we can get, as long as it has a good execution. Cheers for Season 3!

    Revolution…revolution…revolution…revolution…revolution…*ten minutes later*…revolution…REVOLUTION?!…goddamn.
This episode was so pointless. I don’t know they need to re-introduce the boys to us since the people watching this are fans of the show, since it’s the THIRD season. I know it’s from an otome game, but they don’t need to make it exactly like it. Haruka basically walked through the entire school! God those pick up lines were so bad I almost clawed out my eyes, and honestly what the hell was up with Camus? Where the hell did he even get that horse and why was he riding it? And I guess Quartet Night are gonna be possible love interests this season, though Haruka’s probably not gonna end up with anyone anyway…though I hope she ends up with Tokiya (he’s my fave too *heart*)
I actually wasn’t too crazy about their song either. STARISH, as usual, has the fangirls screaming the first time they sing their song, so I barely heard it. So I’ll just need to hear it next episode to see what I think. I wonder why they had to use CGI though?
Slow start, but it should pick up soon.

I know it was annoying to hear it be repeated by EVERY SINGLE PERSON. Jfc, why not just say it all at once?
I wish they would just skip the whole RE-INTRODUCTION. Totally unnecessary at this point of the series. If anything, the only implication I get out of it is that romance may be a bigger factor this season, but I know better not to hold my breath for it.
The pick up lines were so cringe-worthy- yet I couldn’t stop laughing. But in all seriousness I am not too sure how I’m going to handle it if this is going to be pattern every single episode. Masato’s was by far the worse: I MEAN COME ON, “It is a miracle that we met?” Are you shitting me man? You work with her! Go home! (ofc it could be applied to their first encounter, but still – his was still the worse one of all and Ren’s is just as bad regardless of the fact he’s been doing it since S1)
*SALUTES FELLOW TOKIYA x HARUKA SHIPPER* Cheers to hope that if we get a canon ending this season, it’ll be Tokiya x Haruka!
