A few days have passed since the kiss with Zen and Shirayuki still can’t face Zen normally. She avoids him. Which is the main part of this episode. Other things happen like Zen going to Yuris Island to speak with the people about their proposal, and small things like Shirayuki doing work to take her mind off of Zen. But he’s all she thinks about.
I’ll give this anime one thing. They didn’t go with the stupid tropes of the couple getting interrupted or teasing us. They actually brought out the romance and they gave us what we wanted to see. Kisses and confessions. After awkwardly running away and Zen chasing after her, Shirayuki finally comes to terms with her feelings and she admits that she does love Zen. Knowing how his status could constrain others, Zen has always wondered when he would fall in love with someone if they would return his feelings from their heart and not because they felt obligated to because he were a prince. Knowing Shirayuki is different makes him happy. All is well, they kiss. Hurray. Like I said, thank goodness this show doesn’t do the annoying interruptions thing and we also didn’t have to wait until the very last episode to see the main characters get together. Second to last episode, but close enough. We’re also going to have another season in the winter so there’s more story to be told.
It’s nice that Zen and Shirayuki got together. Though again…I wasn’t totally feeling it. Like, I was happy for them but I wasn’t jumping for joy. I’m going to admit that the scene at the end was pretty cheesy. And a little cliche. I’ve seen these cliches and sometimes I don’t mind them at all because I’ll just love the characters. And I’m not saying I hate Zen and Shirayuki, but they’re okay. You know? I just think they’re okay so I think their romance is okay. I could always feel the romantic attraction from Zen, and he even admitted that he fell for Shirayuki for a long time. But I never felt that from Shirayuki. She said she admired him and cared about him, and I guess I could understand the admiration. But I just don’t FEEL it. I don’t have anything against them so good for them, they’re together now. But I’m not holding up OTP signs for them. Even if the scene was sweet.
So now they’re a couple. What will this bring to the story? Well, this show doesn’t have much of a story. I can see from now on forward that many neighboring kingdoms are going to catch wind of Prince Zen falling in love with a commoner woman so he’s going to be a joke. Then Shirayuki might start feeling bad, but Zen won’t because he promised and stuff. I can’t really say what will happen with this series as there is no plot except for this social status thing that keeps being brought up. How will their relationship grow even further? I honestly have no clue. I don’t know what direction this show will take. I mostly watch this for Obi now.
Speaking of which, I feel bad for him. He was falling for Shirayuki too but knows he can’t be with her.
