Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc
鬼滅の刃 遊郭編 | Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen | Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2

Source: Manga
Animation Company: ufotable
Website: kimetsu.com/anime/yukakuhen
Premiere: October 10, 2021 (JST)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Supernatural
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis: The second season of Kimetsu no Yaiba. The season will be divided into two parts:

Starting October 10th, the Train Arc will feature a re-edited six episodes with new BGM, as well as a new content in Episode 1 featuring Kyojuro Rengoku taking on a new mission on the way to the Mugen Train. This arc will be a total of seven episodes.

The Entertainment District Arc will begin on December 5, featuring Tanjiro and his comrades on a brand new mission within the Yoshiwara Entertainment District. A new 1-hour special episode will begin this section of the story after the conclusion of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc.

Eva: HOLY SHIT. I DID NOT EXPECT THIS TO COME OUT THIS SOON! I thought it would start in Winter 2022! I haven’t seen the movie yet, so I’m not particularly affected by them throwing it into the second season, so I guess I might be watching this version first (which may be for the best, only time will tell). Needless to say, MY HEART IS NOT READY FOR THIS SEASON. SOMEBODY HOLD ME!

Berry: To be honest I thought this would take a little while longer to come out so this was a surprise! I had already seen the Mugen Train movie in theaters but brand-new content is a huge plus. I was debating whether I should cover the movie’s arc, but since it’ll have that Rengoku episode and this arc does directly lead into the next one, I’ll go ahead and cover those 7 episodes. It’ll be fun to revisit again!

Kazanova: OH YEAH! I’ve been waiting for this arc to be adapted! Thank goodness it’ll be aired this year! When I heard a rumour that it would be a movie, I was nervous because as much as the Mugen Train Movie was a masterpiece, I don’t want this arc to be made a movie. THANK GOD!

takt op.Destiny
タクトオーパス

Source: Original
Animation Company: MAPPA x MADHOUSE
Website: anime.takt-op.jp
Premiere: October 2021 (JST)
Genre: Action, Fantasy, Music
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis:

The musical composition formed a dwelling power in the girl. A legendary opera, a magnificent composition created in the past. A new life—”Musicart”—imbued with the score.

An ephemeral, beautiful, and fateful tale of girls fighting with the power of musical scores in a world where music has been forgotten. They just aim for the delight that lies beyond. Takt Op. connects music to tomorrow.

Eva: Man it’s hard to keep expectations in check when you have two studios known for dishing out some really stunning works! Oh man I can’t wait to watch this. I hope the story will be just as good as it looks!!!

Berry: I’m not entirely too sure what to expect from this. Visually this looks stunning, but the actual premise of “Musicart” sounds really cool and is a nice twist on music anime.

Quietcupcake: The animation! The music! The designs! I’m so excited to watch this, if anything it’s going to be a visual and auditory treat to enjoy. Absolutely everything that I’ve seen so far just warms my little band kid heart. I really hope it lives up to the hype.

Kazanova: The trailer is very eye-catching, especially we’re talking about two big name studios doing the work together. I wanted to cover this, but I decide to give in since covering too many anime at once won’t be good as much as I love writing. Gotta set a limit.

Premiere: October 2021 (JST)
Genre: Drama, Slice of Life
Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis:

The studious Yatora leaves a dry life of study and good manners behind for a new passion: painting. But untethering yourself from all your past expectations is dangerous as well as thrilling…

Eva: Oh I will definitely be watching this. I heard great things about the series so it’s definitely one of my most anticipated titles for this season.

Berry: This sounds like it can be a great drama show. It’ll be great to see how the characters will use painting as an emotional outlet and what kinds of pieces we’ll be seeing. Don’t remember the last time painting was a main focal point of an anime so this could be a treat.

Quietcupcake: I picked up the Blue Period Manga around Christmas time last year, and I absolutely fell in love with the story. It’s been an absolute joy watching the characters they’ve introduced grow and learn from each other. I’m so excited to see them all animated and to cry all over again!

Premiere: October 5, 2021 (JST)

Trailer: PV 1 | PV 2 | PV 3
Synopsis:

In 2061 AD, Japan is dominated. Divided and ruled by the four major economic blocs of the world, the Japanese people spent their days oppressed as subjugated citizens. Japan became the front line of the world where AMAIM, a human-type special mobile weapon deployed by each economic zone, strode about.. One day, Amou Shiiba, a boy who loves machines, meets i-LeS (autonomous thinking AI) named “Gai,” and this leads him to throw himself into the battle to reclaim Japan, by piloting the AMAIM “Kenbu” built by himself.

Eva: This is looking to scratch that itch for some more Gundam content so I am definitely checking this one out. (At least the next one has been announced for 2022!!!) But I gotta say… those  i-LeS though… Interesting design, haha.

Kazanova: As a fan of Gundam anime, it didn’t take a minute for me to think “I’m gonna watch this” and I intend to do so. Although, I’m having a second thought about blogging it.

Though all hope seems lost, a gift from Joutarou ends up awakening her latent abilities, manifesting into her Stand, Stone Free. Now armed with the power to change her fate, Jolyne sets out to find an escape from the stone ocean that holds her.

However, she soon discovers that her incarceration is merely a small part of a grand plot: one that not only takes aim at her family, but has additional far-reaching consequences. What’s more, the mastermind is lurking within the very same prison, and is under the protection of a lineup of menacing Stand users. Finding unlikely allies to help her cause, Jolyne sets course to stop their plot, clear her name, and take back her life.

*Note: Netflix will be releasing worldwide in December, an air on television in Japan in January. For that reason we decided to include it in this season’s preview.

Berry: Oh maaaaan I’m PUMPED!! Despite differing views in the fandom, I fucking love Stone Ocean and I was hoping we would get an adaption of it. Was thinking we wouldn’t when learning Part 6 isn’t all that popular so I’m extremely happy! I have no idea how blogging is going to work with this one since it’ll release on Netflix, but I’m not sure it’ll be the whole thing or just part of it, and this’ll be in December. So I’m not sure what’s going on, but you bet I’m going to be talking about this anyway!

In 1960, the Union’s Premier Gergiev announces the Mechtat Program, a prestigious plan to launch manned missions into the final frontier. To this end, the Republic establishes the isolated city of Laika 44, where cosmonaut candidates compete for planned manned missions to space, and scientists develop the technology to make it happen, all in an environment of secrecy.

The story centers on Lev Leps, a backup astronaut candidate, and his new companion, the vampire Irina Ruminescu. As part of a daring new Operation Nosferatu, the Mechtat Program will use Irina as a test subject for various conditions expected in space, and ultimately as part of a manned mission, with Lev overseeing Irina’s training as a cosmonaut. For reasons of their own, both dream of going into space.

Eva: Yup this kind of story right up my alley! I’m really excited for this one! Better yet the novel is supposedly getting an English release in the foreseen future! Sounds like it’s probably at least a year down the line, but when that day comes, I’ll be excited to read it!

Now a new adventure begins, one that will test their skills and their bond as friends alike.

Berry: If we were ever going to get another Yuki Yuna anime, I didn’t think it would be another direct sequel with our main cast. I would have thought they would have adapted the other prequel story, but this is fine too! I love Yuki Yuna a lot so I’m looking forward to what the story will be this time. After everrything that happened last time though, I’m not sure what they could do so it’s very curious.

Quietcupcake: I was surprised to see a third season of Yuuki Yuuna, but I’m not complaining! Fun fact: I wrote a paper on this series for school, so I’m happy to see that things are still happening with it. I will definitely need to have a re-watch session before this releases though, haha!

Eva: Well this is certainly a shift, but I’m here for it! That said, I’m not too crazy about the CGI I’m seeing in the PV, but maybe it will grow on me on a bit… But I’m curious to see how this one will turn out!

Berry: Honestly I have no clue what I should be expecting from this, but seeing vampires performing visual kei in battle is so fucking insane that I HAVE to see this.

Quietcupcake: I’m gonna be honest, I’m hear for the vampires, the style, and the music. I feel like this one is such a wild card, but at the very least it’s looks like it’s going to offer us a good time.

Join her day-to-day life as she keeps up her best poker face despite the supernatural goings-on.

Berry: So this is a weird one. I’m not sure what kind of balance this show will have with its horror and comedy but I would still be interested in checking it out. I might just sit back and wait though, to see what other people have to say. I do wonder how this girl can act like nothing is happening when there’s horrible things around her.

Quietcupcake: Seeing comedy, horror, and slice of life all wrapped up in one has my curiosity piqued. I really just want to know how they mix together with. I haven’t heard much about the series, but it seems like people who read the manga really enjoyed it. I think it’s worth a shot to just check it out.

The teenage Tamahiko shuts himself in his new home, bitterly thinking of it as the place where he will die. One day, he learns that his father has ‘bought’ him a bride to take care of him, when the young teen girl named Yuzuki arrives at his door. She comes into his life like an innocent ray of sunshine, and Tamahiko’s view of the world and his life starts changing bit-by-bit.

Eva: Oh man, I’m so glad to see this series get an adaption! I’ve read this manga a while back and I absolutely fell in love with it! <3 Yuzuki and Tamahiko are so precious and so many feels [SOBS] THEY DESERVE THE WORLD!!!!!!

Berry: This sounds pretty sweet, and it actually sort of reminds me of Shinigami Bocchan with the son being sent away and losing heir status and falling for a girl sent to live with him. The being bought as a bride part is different, but eh. Anyway, again, this looks slow and sweet so I’m excited to watch this one.

Eva: CUTEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! Looks I love my cute romcoms, but I actually haven’t read the manga! I know a lot of people who have, and looks like I’ll be watching the adaption before I do haha!

Berry: Man this manga sure is popular, I see it around so much. It looks really cute! It’ll be fun to see the wacky hijinks with the characters and see why Komi is so cute, and why this manga is so popular.

Berry: Oh, well I wasn’t expecting those sentai-like outfits lol. Well cool I’ve been really looking forward to this! We got black-haired Light Yagami fighting against others with angels (not shinigami). I loved Death Note so I’m going to go into this with high expectations for its mangaka and hope it won’t be a simple death game. Eva: IT’S WOMEN’S HOCKEY LETS FREAKING GOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I love watching hockey, so I am super excited for this, I really hope the story will be good! <3

Berry: I’m going to be completely honest, the only reason why this caught my attention is because the main orange girl looks like Chika from Love Live Sunshine, and the other orange girl looks like Hagumi from Bang Dream! Honestly, the designs and art style looks like a combination of both series and it’s kind of funny. I don’t know a single thing about hockey but the animation in the trailer actually looked good. So I’ll give it a chance maybe.

Quietcupcake: lol I had the exact same thoughts as Berry. It really does look like the cast of Love Live! and Bandori came together to give us hockey girls. I want to learn more about hockey since a team’s rink just opened nearby, so maybe they can teach me about it. Go girls go!!

The girls who challenge Selection all have strong feelings that are second to none, accumulated efforts, and extraordinary charm. Only nine stars are selected from among the thousands of candidates. Now, the hot and harsh “Audition Battle” of the girls begins to make their dreams come true.

Eva: Apart from Love Live! Superstar!! , I haven’t really watched a lot of girl idol series lately because none of them been able to really hold my interest. This one sounds interesting though, so I hope that the story and characters will be able to reel me in as the premise had.

Berry: Look, I just like idols okay? I don’t try out every idol show that comes out because most of the time they’re not good or they’re just forgettable but this caught my eye for some reason so if I have a chance, I’ll watch this one too.

Quietcupcake: If there’s an idol anime in a season I can’t help but at least be interested in it. I think this one is going to be interesting since they’re still competing with each other. So, I’ll definitely keep it on my radar.

The story follows Bojji’s coming-of-age as he meets various people in his life, starting with his fateful encounter with Kage.

Eva: There is something about the art-style that makes me nostalgic, but it’s the story’s premise that really has captured my attention. I expect a lot of feels for this one.

Berry: Well this looks interesting! I appreciate how stylistic the art style is, and the premise with the prince being deaf caught my eye as well. His relationship with Kage should be a fun watch so I’ll probably give this a shot.

Eva: MORE MECHA WOOOOO~ Well I’m definitely in the mood for it so I definitely plan to watch it! This is a wild card pick up for me though! I’ll have to see how the first episode goes.

OVERALL THOUGHTS

Eva: Man, there are a lot of titles I am excited to be watching this season. This is the first time in a while where I am having a trickier time identifying which one I will most likely be covering! The titles I am looking to potentially pick up are: takt op.Destiny, Kyoukai Senki, Tsuki to Laika to Nosferatu, Taishou Otome Otogibanashi, and  Puraor!: Pride of Orange. But since I am really only looking to pick up two titles (though I may cave in for three), it’s going to come down to whichever doesn’t clash with my schedule too much (HELP)! ASHAKJSDHAS It’s going to be hard to narrow it down to two. Apart from those, I will be watching: Demon Slayer S2 (MY HEART, I’M NOT READY THOUGH), Blue Period, Visual Prison, Banished from the Hero’s Party, and The Vampire Dies in No time. Lastly, as mentioned at the top of this post: I would like to remind readers that YGO 5D’s coverage will done on a monthly basis for a period of time! Thank you for your patience!

Berry: There’s a decent chunk of shows that look promising, and lots of big names like Demon Slayer, Komi-san, and of course Jojo. Again I’m still not sure what’s going to happen with that, but I am going to blog it some way somehow! And because work really keeps me busy and drained, I think the most I can pick up are only two shows again (maybe three with Jojo). And my two picks are going to be Demon Slayer Season 2 and Yuuki Yuuna. The shows I know for sure I’m going to be watching are Platinum End, Komi-san, takt.op Destiny, Visual Prison, and Taishou Otome Otogibanashi. Well, I’ll try my best to watch everything I’m interested in. I still need to catch up on some shows from summer!

Quietcupcake: Wow! I’m actually impressed by how many sequels are airing this season! But even then, there seems like quite the variety to choose from. This season I will absolutely be covering Blue Period because I have really high hopes for it. As for a second coverage, I’m eyeing Visual Prison just because it seems like it will be a good time. You know? Even if it turns out not to be the best it still sounds like a lot of fun. Alternatively I might consider Mieruko chan or Selection Project. I haven’t had a chance to cover an idol anime on the blog yet, so that might be fun! Aside from those, I’m super excited for Takt op.Destiny, Yuuki Yuuna, and Komi-san wa, Komyushou desu. I’m begging the seasons to stop having so many interesting shows, my backlog is overflowing!!

Kazanova: This season’s titles are no doubt promising. It’ll be too long if I mention which titles I’m interested one by one. Oh, I’m really eager to watch them all! October, please come already! I’d love to cover many that caught my attention the most, but as sad as it is, I have other things to do, so I must limit which anime I’d like to cover. I’m definitely covering Yashahime S2 and Isekai Shokudou S2Maybe they’re not as good as the other titles this season, but it didn’t stop me from liking them and covering them! October, here I come!

Whew! It’s been quite a while since I saw a lot of titles that perk my interests! I’ll have to rely on your reviews to “watch” the ones you guys are covering as I will have to watch the ones not getting blogged and pick the ones I will actually watch to the end. But to have one of the better anime seasons happen at a time when I have so much on plate (school, work, life colliding at the same time in unprecedented ways) right now is a pity… It’ll be hard on you guys to make selections when there are so many options but regardless of your decisions you’re helping me out here to not miss too much of a season with such high potential!

Hahaha! Glad we’re able to help you out with that! It’s going to be hard to choose among the ones of interest that air on the same day. I’m like ALKSJDLKASJD AHHHHH GEEZ! SPREAD OUT PLEASE! XDDDDD

PS: Sorry for the delay for your comment to come out. I found it caught up in the filter. DX

@Eva, Banished From the Hero’s Party starts out rather slow, but it gets better starting from Vol 2. Especially if you like a story which a reviewer described as Gap Moe : The Light Novel due to its 2 very opposing moods – one very sweet and fluffy, and one rather grim and serious-plot oriented (with some interesting worldbuilding on leveling up and free will).

Still undecided on the rest, although I might look at takt and Kyokai Senki.

I’ll keep that in mind! If Vol 1 leaves me unsure, at last the anime should give me a good indication whether it’s worth picking up the rest haha! XD I do like the balance of sweet and fluffy and serious plot oriented stuff. hopefully they will grow on me!
